If he were "cheating" by using a "lagbot", which is a laughable term in my opinion, it really wouldn't be cheating anyway. Using some kind of fictional program to cause the person to lag at regular intervals may make it a little harder to predict their movement and make shots on them, but it's only going HURT their chances of being able to hit anyone else also.

It's possible to stop your connection for long enough to fire several rockets at once. This is done in rare cases to do massive rocket jumps. I believe that Quadz has overcome the issue that allows this on his servers.

I don't think you'd be able to fire several at ONCE, because weapon thinking is done at the end (or beginning, one of the two) of a client frame AND in ClientThink if it wasn't done by the client frame. Either way once you get one rocket out you'd of passed the frame by the time you reach the next think.

I'm pretty sure it involves setting your cl_maxfps to 0 and then turning them back to normal when ready. There was once a config that did this. It bound the key to kp_ins and would switch to rocket, point your screen down, and then do the cl_max fps trick.

A sample would be something like this
alias +example "use rocket launcher; +lookdown; +attack; cl_maxfps 0"
alias -example "cl_maxfps 90; -attack; wait; wait; wait; wait; wait; centerview"

bind kp_ins +example


I'm not 100% sure that cl_maxfps was the way to do this, but I've done it myself using this config years ago, and have seen it done recently in one of my own servers.


I thought that speed hacks worked in a similar way. Basically you can do a similar trick to hang yourself midair to break people's aiming. Similarly this can be done with timerefresh. The only problem is that timerefresh takes about 2 seconds to complete, which is enough time to fire any weapon a second time while you are stationary.

Haha, that does work :)

As an update, the cl_maxfps 0 trick does not work in r1q2 servers. However the timerefresh trick sure does.


The stipulation is that you are still stuck in place for that whole time. So the only way that this could be remotely useful is for rocket jumping to high places.
