OK, I watched the demo.

A player's movement can look like that in Quake2 if their connection is badly lagged. Either heavy packetloss, or maybe a wireless connection, or his roommates uploading/downloading torrents, etc.

It's unlikely to be a cheat.

Bro, first of all, if you're going to post a demo of someone cheating, it's usually customary to record the demo from the alleged cheaters point of view. In other words, you'd go into spectator mode and record while chasing the person.

Secondly, you should probably try to educate yourself about what the different cheats are, what they do, and how they work. If you knew what the known cheats did, you know that a players movement skipping around the map like that is never attributed to any kind of cheat. It's always because that player is experiencing lag on their connection.

If he were "cheating" by using a "lagbot", which is a laughable term in my opinion, it really wouldn't be cheating anyway. Using some kind of fictional program to cause the person to lag at regular intervals may make it a little harder to predict their movement and make shots on them, but it's only going HURT their chances of being able to hit anyone else also.

He's certainly not using an aimbot, I saw several shots that were not dead-on enough. A person using an aimbot will almost never be able to make any near misses because if they are aimed close enough to your hitbox, the bot will automatically target the center of the hitbox.

He's certainly not using spiked models or wallhacks either. I didn't see any shots made against you where he fired before you came into his view from behind any wall or box.

It's possible to stop your connection for long enough to fire several rockets at once. This is done in rare cases to do massive rocket jumps. I believe that Quadz has overcome the issue that allows this on his servers.

I don't think you'd be able to fire several at ONCE, because weapon thinking is done at the end (or beginning, one of the two) of a client frame AND in ClientThink if it wasn't done by the client frame. Either way once you get one rocket out you'd of passed the frame by the time you reach the next think.

Nobody said anything about his ping. Apparently he had heavy packet loss, I say apparently cause I don't feel like wasting my time watching the demo.

Come on granny, get your bifocals out and look at it again. When you bring up the scoreboard, his ping was around 90ms.

Exactly what kind of cheat do you think he could be "showing off" by moving around? And if you say anything like, "I dunno what kinda cheat it was, but he was jerking around like crazy, that MUST be some kinda cheat!", then I'm gonna hit you over the head with my rubber chicken.

other day I had a ping of 90 (normal) but my wifi went nuts & i'd get massive packet loss.

Seriously though, Ping has absolutly nothing to do with packet loss.
I played for a good while on wireless and had a pind of around 20 but still had packet loss.
Even on wired I can get a 15 ping easy, but STILL get packet loss sporatically due to some random crappy hops between me and the server.

Generally when this happens to me it's all local. Such as another computer on my home network downloading massive files, or a wireless router biting the dust. I once had a mailbomb virus on one of my computers sucking up all of my upload speed.
