As an experiment, I've lowered lab, city1, and waste2 back to 30 frags, and raised biggun to 50 based on what was said here.

So far I've had one comment, "just wish city1 was still 50, the others I could care less."

It's not as though any change has to be permanent anyway, right?

I am delighted with the new city1, and while I'm no big fan of biggun, there's no harm in a 50 fraglimit on a map that small--just means it will last an extra minute, taking 4 minutes instead of 3 to get through. I'm sad about lab being taken down to 30; it's another small map where there's no harm in having a higher fraglimit, since it'll be over in a hurry no matter what. Even if you hate the map, it won't be on for long. But that's just me, I suppose.

My problem was with the huge maps with high fraglimits that could sometimes take a long time to get through.

City1 should still have 50. It's one of my favourite maps, if not the favourite one. I like the landscape and the whole atmosphere, yes, even the bfg - I never understood why people complained about using the bfg, it is a legitimate weapon in this game and this game is primarily meant to give us fun (and not some shitty competition). Moreover, I'm just as good with the bfg as I am with other weapons, no need to prove anyone that I need to bfg to achieve something...

Where I really like to see a low frag limit is the "space" map, with its low gravity annoyance, an annoyance that I highly dislike in other maps, too, when it comes to gravity lottery. :-(

I say we take Space and Lab off rotation........just my 0.02, and add koth3 and 4..more maps where meand ElChingon can go huhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuuhHUAH! (well, according to my crappy sound card, they seem to be saying "Hook!"    :D

City1 - Def my fav map! If you see sleazy p or balsac join up for some city1 action, you'd better look out!  :twisted:

When vanilla is full of players, this map is chaos! I find it to be so much fun!

Long as I join the fun, you won't have to wait more then 5-10 minutes for the next map.  So don't worry about the 50 fraglimit, that's a snap. ;)


Sheridan - First server I ever played q2 on. Played back then with alot of classic players! So many memories from when makaveli and his whole family pretty much played there (pulp, kenny). Capt. Sheridan, the orginal host rocked. I am more then greatful to TS for rehosting that server.  Ya'll rock!

All I got to say... if you see me idleing in sheridan and your any good, bring it on! We'll have some god damn epic battles, trust me.

I've beat city1, 50 frags in 6 minutes..

it's not that difficult, play smart. 

Running into an area where you see multiple players sporting BFG's = bad tactics.

Attack players that are not focused on you, that'll be a start as well.  But don't be dumb and ignore ones that are attacking you.

3rd man in, that's usually a good one as well.  See a couple nubs blasting each other.. one or two nice rocket shots = +2 frags for you.

There's always some moron in the dark blue armour room, spam a couple nades/rockets in there. 

Powerups = good thing.  Does anyone know where the RA is in city1?  I do, and it's usually always there when I go get it. Also, don't sweat to spare 20 seconds to get it again.. Mega is another thing people don't like to go get. So within 35 seconds, I can be 200/200, so going into the big room killing people who run for the rail and take the 75 foot plunge into the fray should make easy pray.

STOP FALLING INTO THE LAVA/CRATERING! -1 doesn't help your quest to 50 frags.

Key thing (usable in all maps).  If you don't think you can finish the kill, don't chase, how many people I sucker into chasing me when they think I have little health is hilarious.  Ask reaper, he can vouche for that.

Learn to predict where your opponents are going to go.  The rocket launcher/ grenade launcher are key weapons for this. If you can predict what way the opponent is heading (prime example, you hit them, and now they're runing towards the health), shoot to the spot you belive they will be headed.  9 times out of 10, if that doesn't kill them, they're much weaker than they want to be, so they'll keep fleeing.

Don't rely on only using powerful weapons.  Melee weapons are quite powerful if used correctly.
In addition to Melee weapons, they make excellent finishing weapons.

Shoot walls/floors around opponents.. those high ledges in city1, you know the opponent is hopping along the narrow ledges to get the Rocket Launcher.  Pop a rocket off the wal near them, they could fall off.  If they don't crater, you should be able to finish them off with a machine/chaingun, shotgun/supershotgun.  Or you can have balls and try to blast them (which is fun to do).

Learn the quick routes to key items.  Again in city1, I next to never see anyone use the quick route to the rocket launcher.  You can jump off the ramp going up towards the yellow armour to the rocket launcher platform above the door.  It's really not that difficult either, just a simple strafe jump with suffice.

If an idiot is camping the spawn at the railgun or grenade launcher, stop going thru it repeatedly.  That's how campers win.  Also if that does happen to you, you should make it one of your goals to try and kill that person from the big open room.  It's not that difficult when you get a rocket launcher.  Another option which works for me, get the hyper, and start shooting cells as you go thru the teleporter.. and either jump or crouch when you respawn up top, but try to make sure your crosshair is still facing where the nub camper is standing.  Campers don't really move at all, so make mobility your asset. Also, make sure you have armour/mega when you plan on spawning thru risky teleporters.

Hmmm.. i think that's enough tactics for now.. master these and you'll see the map is much more enjoyable.
