Believe it or not I have not really played Doom 3, but I've heard that Q4 runs better than Doom 3 does.

I've read that the FX line was not as good as the GeForce 4's, so I'm not surprised that you'd be able to run it better than me.

when i was looking for a new card
i wanted to get the fx 5950, which after looking at the specs, was only slightly better then my current card

is this the same for the geforce 6 series? or is it a big leap over the fx series

The GeForce 6 series is a big leap over the FX.

aight guys, when i get my new PC, i wanna use the old parts of this to build a crappy one for the family as i said before, the old crappy puter will be in the other room, i can drill through the wall to shove a nescacary cable through etc. the thing is, can i share this connection with that old puter? i think its that the other puter needs a network card, then an ethernet cable go's from the router to the other puters network card, am i right? also, how much would it cost to do this?

Your right, and it shouldn't cost much at all.

Network cards are relatively cheap.

Just make sure your getting a "patch" cable and not crossover.

Assuming you have a hardware firewall, you should be fine. If you don't have one you'll need one.

Don't forget a cool case for your computer, because a computer in a stylish case runs faster than one in an ugly one.

lol the router has an inbuilt firewall... ill get a cool case if i can afford it lol.. and you wouldent want my pc to run better than my p2 anyway, cos ill just beat you easier

It's required if you want to have more than one computer connected to the internet at once. I've been told that what most people call routers are not actually routers but hardware firewalls with NAT. I could be wrong though.

My firewall works pretty well. It would work better if i took the time to set up a static IP for my computer and set up port triggering. But I'm lazy.

first time iv heard of that

i never liked routers all that much
the last i had a firewall that i couldnt turn off

and it only alowed a few ports to be opened for all computers
routers require alot of work to setup, and then it would still be hard to for everythign to work properly

not worth it IMO, plus since i already have a hardwarer firewall and stuff aswell
im just gunna go for a switch or something

iv been wanting to get a gigbyte one for awhile, the hub i have is a big bottleneck as it only runs at 10mbds. But i finaly have an excuss to get a new one!!

got a new computer that needs the internet. but my hub is one port short
