I'm assuming someone else connected at the time started spamming hyperblaster weapon drops or something. I seem to remember an occasion years ago where krenz did something similar spamming drops for the hyperblaster or cells ammo or something.

Do silly ass people really pull that shit??

Make me dictator. Then we'll get starships and warp drive. And mandatory daily Quake II sessions.

That's... distinctly odd. I've never had that happen in Q2! Sounds like the server's OWN copy of the hyperblaster model caused it to crash!  :exqueezeme:

Quadz raises some interesting points about free speech, and what social media companies should and should not be able to do with their platforms.

It should be noted here that certain kinds of speech are *not* protected: if you communicate threats, or announce your intention to commit a crime, that's not counted as free speech. Saying "all [insert group of people here] are scum and should be killed" probably counts as incitement to violence and probably also isn't protected free speech. I'm completely in support of things of that nature being removed from online platforms.

I however DO support free speech in any and all its forms. As the old adage goes, I might not like what you say, but I'll defend your right to say it. However, that works both ways: I also reserve the right to argue with you if I disagree! :)

I just got told to "die in rape" by someone named "Player" on the mara-coop server. :lolsign:

Dumb and grammatically felonious.

edit: Hmmm. Was not aware of it until just now when out of curiosity I went googling, but apparently YouTube has banned Varg from their platform because they don't want to promote "hate speech". If he had any videos promoting hate speech, that would be fine. But MOST of his videos did NOT, and in the interest of GOD DAMNED AMERICAN FREE SPEECH... I personally think they should've been left the hell alone. Free speech gets eroded a millimeter at a time. This only gets worse.

To be fair, the First Amendment only applies to actions taken by the government. Private companies are allowed to put whatever the hell they want in their TOS and ban people from their platforms for anything. (Also, it doesn't apply to non-Americans.)

Trouble Shooting / Re: Higher Ping?
« on: September 13, 2019, 05:25:37 PM »
the last 3 days my ping is 80ish. I am normally 45-55ping. Other servers are fine giving me my usual 40's. So i'm up 30% on ping, what did they change?

Be glad it's not 1998 and you're on a 36k Winmodem. 350+ pings with 20% packet loss...

Q2 Training Camp / Re: Quake 2 Source Code Question
« on: August 06, 2018, 12:50:24 PM »
I believe there's a tutorial somewhere on Youtube that does a 'update Q2 source to work with VS 2013'. I did it a while back and the edited sources work perfectly w/VS 2017 as well.

I can't track it down now, maybe it's no longer on Youtube, but I have a copy of it I downloaded, I can upload if needed?

Quake / Re: Focalor's Pak v11

So basically every time you make a pak, you get bored with it and want a new one ;)

Looks good so far though! I'm down with 'updated stock Q2'.

More Stellaris. Also Path of Exile which is proving increasingly frustrating as I level higher because every time you die, BOOM, 10% of your experience gone...  :razzberry:  :frustration:
