/dev/random / Upcoming tourney in a game called mercenary wars
« on: June 08, 2010, 04:31:19 PM »
Hello all,

I was wondering if any of you would be interested in playing a tourney on a game called mercenary wars. I have the top team and am #1 ranked in the game, but would like 2 - 3 alternates for this 5v5 tourney. No one on the game is really worth recruiting and since I know you all have great aim, I would like to pick a few of you up. The game is free and can be downloaded at mercenarywars.uforia.com

The tourney starts in about a week and a half.

Please lt me know

Thanks,
Luci

I don't keep up a lot on quake 2 news, but I ran across this today.  I'm sure everyone has seen this except me, but I found it to be incredibly cool.

this is a video of someone playing quake 2 with their eyes instead of a mouse.

Quake / q2's slowing down ?!??!
« on: September 20, 2006, 01:27:11 PM »
I donno, what do you all think?  I come on the forums about 3 - 4 times a week and i rarely see many new posts usually 1 or 2.  When i occasionally (rarely) come on the servers i just play with reflex cause he's the only one on.  Is q2 actually falling apart?  Would it be worth putting more effort into playing again when i can't even find a 1v1 or team game?  I donno whats with the slump is my question who is really active nowadays?  I mean even the shit spewing granny doesn't post many demos or is on when i look through servers?  Where did all the q2'ers go?

1v1 and TDM Demos / 1v1 A blast from the past luci vs v3n q2dm1
« on: July 21, 2006, 05:04:32 AM »
before you all trash this thread...don't.  I played a few games with a west coast legend.  Most of you probably don't know v3n or seen him play, so before you bash these games.  A little history lesson.  v3n and i go way back like 99ish and we may not of played many games we knew a lot about each other.  i can remember a certain dm3 match where i hit hpb hyper 12 straight bullets as he jumped from armor to take control and win in the minutes.   But we played 3 dm1 games tonight as friendly players.  We also tore up some ra2 earlier.  Now i'm posting these demos not cause i want to show my great skills or to disrespect v3n.  People like granny / dinsum / naymlis / daelman etc.  should actually respect this play but i know some of u won't cause if it wasn't for v3n a lot of ur trick jumping wouldn't have come around for years if ever.  He was part of the julious era. He helped pave the way of the speed / trick jumps.  As u watch these games you can see xeno all over this but players like v3n remer julious dysnag  paved the way for the faster movement/ gameplay.  Circle jumps came from this group as well as hand grenade combos, as well as unusal weapon choices.  So instead of looking at these games and comparing yourself or todays genereation to them look back in time.  These games were played today, but were played with styles (some tweaked) but mostly 99 - 2000 style gameplay and strategy.  If you are a new school player i suggest watching these games cause there are some moves in dm1 here that havne't been used in years, why?  it was used against an old school style that is obsolete now.  you can see how the game is focused on strategy and smart play and trickery rather than aim / movement.  I am in better shape than he is, but yet u can still the pro level player that he once was.  I had the most fun playing these games this morning than i have had in 4 years of q2 playing. It brought me back to the golden times.  So as stated don't bash this thread, GYN take a look, Daelman take look anyone else that is intrested in improving their game should take a look, pay attention more towards my oppenent than me, watch what is attempted and what does and doesn't work.  For oldschoolers there is a few funny comments.  Well anyways here they are lemme know what u think.

1v1 and TDM Demos / 1vs1 - Luci vs Nogame - q2dm3
« on: May 08, 2006, 02:29:39 PM »
I was starting to rant on the last demo, so i figured i would post this demo and tell a story.   I know most of you don't care / heard this before.   Here is the 2nd round of the wrh tourney me vs nogame 2nd game on dm3.  This is my favorite game of all time that i played.  Not so much how i played or what happened in the game, but the buildup.  Nogame and i used to play on a regular basis back when i was a hpb.  Yes, i have a lot of wins on ng and a lot of the old dz as hpb, but they were some of the hardest players i have ever played.  I also enjoyed playing mason (ng) A LOT.  He wasn't ur typical player.  He was very old skewl and very chess like.  This game was built up a bit.  Prior to this mason to raija in #wrh that i had a snowball chance in hell to beat him on dm3.  I wasn't really preparing for the tourney at all at this point and he was my next match, so i spent the next two weeks learning his style by watching demos and having people play him and recording.  Surprisingly, i believe he was studying me.  Cause when the game was played, you will see the first 10 min of this game the strategy that was used on my pov was not my typical dm3 strategy.  Surprisingly his was not either.  We ended up playing like the opposite player.  I figured the best chance i had to beat him was to use his strats against him and play just like him.  Surprisingly, he decided to play just like ME.  So for the first half of this game we played using the other person tactics and moves.  Then about halfway through we switched back and u can see this i notced him change back and he got the advantage, so i went back to my normal tactics to even it out.  All in all it was one helluve a game.  Not so much flashy, but as far as intesity it was there.  This game was not an aim whoring game or a fast paced game this is my generation of players playing at their best.  Not giving anything away and playing tight aggressive *for u poker players*
anyway if u haven't seen this game please watch it, it is worth it.  It is a gem that doesn't exsist nowadays.  Maybe GYN can give me a play by play.=P
aighty *steps off the soapbox*
