q2's slowing down ?!??!

I donno, what do you all think?  I come on the forums about 3 - 4 times a week and i rarely see many new posts usually 1 or 2.  When i occasionally (rarely) come on the servers i just play with reflex cause he's the only one on.  Is q2 actually falling apart?  Would it be worth putting more effort into playing again when i can't even find a 1v1 or team game?  I donno whats with the slump is my question who is really active nowadays?  I mean even the shit spewing granny doesn't post many demos or is on when i look through servers?  Where did all the q2'ers go?

Hmm perhaps give a different type of Quake2 a try. Try playing ra2 when you see players in there. They tend to be very skilled. I have a great time playing those guys. Hit up vanilla or the dm server, always nonstop action there! I'm normaly always around for a game however I don't 1on1 (aka play 'edge') often so I won't be to much of a challenege to a average 'edge' player. But I'd give it a go still, quake2 is quake2, it's all fun.

Oh and yeah, the forum has been pretty boring... For the most part I talk to myself all day long at work.

ya, i am at work currently.  Bored (lol seriously i get paid a nice figure to surf the net all day and do nothing *i'll stop whining*) hehe well i wouldn't classify myself as an "edge" player.  Since i hate that map and it probably is my weakest map.  I am a tdm/1v1'er tho, but i enjoy playing a lot of old school maps ie
fragpipe/ztn2dm2/match1 etc.  well i get home around 9pm pst 12am est.  I think i'll log in tonight, and play a game or two if ur on just go to tourney2/4 and i'll most likely pop in.

I wouldn't say that q2 is falling apart.. It's just slowly losing a majority of it's skilled following to other games that
actually offer the chance to compete against another clan.

If all you want to do is play FFA or the occasional small team game for fun, then there are still a few players around to offer you something of a challenge. They're getting fewer and farther between though...

The forum has slightly degenerated into a mass of whining babies and insulting assholes, but here and there among the fools(myself included) you can still find the occasional bit of new quake 2 content and info. I also don't see a tourney happening anytime soon, and I doubt we'll see one again at this rate. The last one seems to have poisoned the waters...

I remember people saying that Quake II was falling apart back when I started play in July of 1999.  Point is that the Quake II community will be around for many more years to come.  Thankfully the TDM community does seem to be dwindling...You can only bicker amongst yourselves for so long.

the point of my post was more for TDM than ffa/other mods.  i don't find those fun at all really.

Actually I have noticed that there are very few of them around at all anymore.
Haunted and Sean are MIA most of the week..
Paradiselost had a little problem controlling his admin powers,
Dahang rarely posts anything on here anymore except for demos of Granny and long ass signatures,
Mya has been out for quite a while,
Plastik got run off by the dickhead squad...
Kobra only plays FFA now so no one gives him a hard time
ni-ux proved that he was a complete and total waste of oxygen
Blood purportedly works more hours than there are in a week
dinsum and ditzu stopped playing around here cause they kept getting accused of botting...
etc, etc, etc...

I look in the tourney servers when I'm browsing just to see who's on, and in the evenings,
it's Reflex and a few people who are either aliasing or are not regulars..
It may be different on the weekends and during the day, since I rarely check the servers during these times,
but from what I've seen, you're right.

Reflex is the only one left.
I guess he wins the prize for being the most persistent Q2 tdm player left on earth.

yer whole msg there was garbage whirling,  din doesnt play tdm anymore cause of work but gets on for jmup mod here and there,  i dont play much cause everytime i come onto the servers my only chance at a challenge is 4on1 and not many ppl are up for that.

I've been around it's just wtf is the point in posting here anymore, its been months since Ive seen anyone start a topic thats worth a shit, so the only enjoyment I get here anymore is running my mouth on the smack talk forum, and even that is losing its fun, so why even post at all then? to show I have an e-presence? even typing out this post makes me feel like a mouse in a wheel because I know some moron is going to be like "omg there are topics here that are interesting, I mean look we've kept this topic about THE SHERIDAN going!"

 

as for lucis original comment about q2 dying, yeah it is, I mean people will always play at vanilla, but as far as anything half way organized I think those days have come and gone

Yeah I miss you too whirling. As for the chick I've been banging, yes, she is freaky and no i did not meet her on mypace. She lives a door down from me haha.. I would be playing q2 plenty but for some reason the internet here doesn't allow it. I download fast as shit but I lag out around 5x a second when I connect to a server... it's like there's some weird block on q2 on the school ethernet here. Ahh well it's 5 am and im still drunk as fuck and i need to take a shower after going 4x in her small ass eclipse. If you have any ideas whirling (or anyone else) with what's wrong with my connection then let me know.

oh i almost forgot.. that chick bit my fucking thumb so hard tonight, she fucking busted a vein in it. tonight kind of ended bad because i literally had to hit her hard as fuck to stop her from biting off my fucking thumb then she was all pissy and walked out buck naked out of her car in the parking lot like an  idiot then a cop rolled up and i had a blast explaining to the cop what happened and why she was walking around bare assed like an dumbass.. haha..
