1v1 and TDM Demos / panj vs z1u-Rage
« on: September 24, 2009, 02:00:11 PM »
I played a good match on a euro server so I thought I'd post the demo that my buddy had recorded for me. This z1u dude has hammered me enough times before so it was nice to give him the same treatment for a change. But I have to say that he had already been playing like 5 matches in a row and he was not as sharp as usual. Every once in a awhile if I manage to stay calm I seem to get into the moment and everything just works, even up to the point of making wallish shots. Dunno what it is maybe it's because I'm so used to 140 ping that it feels much faster and more direct when I play with 40. A bit of annoying packetloss going on but halfway into the demo I landed a nice series of 5 or 6 nasty spawns and well, overall I think it's an entertaining demo.

L4m3r Demos / frkq2-flu
« on: June 11, 2009, 03:44:02 PM »
The demo of the first botter is almost funny, but still...  :humm:

--
The other one 'Deco'/'WoYow'/'Deadman Walking' is hiding it better (I'm almost certain those names all point to the same dude.) The soon as the distance to the target increases his shots become snappy and more precise. In the demos from dm4 there are also some wh shots.
Somehow the server IP in his Nocheat message at the start of the maps isn't corresponding with the actual IP, so he's probably using some hacked Nocheat that puts out a fake message(?). Anyway if you come across a player on DM that pings around 150-160 using Nocheat and his server IP message isn't [74.54.186.226] but something like [192.......] then it's this guy.

Oh and just for a laugh two short stupid demos of me playing "Noob-on-u" on coolnet ffa (that's where he hangs out sometimes). At first I didn't know it was him and was gonna give him the benefit of the doubt, but after a couple of games with other players in which he was making more and more superbly timed razor-prediction shots with his aweful laggy connection it became obvious it was Razor and he's still being the same little dickweed. Now if it would be against some experienced player I guess I wouldn't have suspected anything but since it's Razor you just know it ain't right. "xD"
I fired some wallish shots myself but that was after I realized he was wearing his X-ray glasses and constantly whoring the quad (even when it was just the two of us there) so I had to play more cautious than I normally do in ffa. After a couple of games with that turd I already had enough of it, like the rest of the other players that had left earlier. Next time I see him I'm just going to +walkaround and wait behind corners to get him to make the first moves. Haha i cant belief he still thinks that others don't see it :D

L4m3r Demos / IDIOFL
« on: January 18, 2009, 12:43:25 PM »
Today on vanilla. The scan already made him 'MZ exec'... so I'm sure it's been logged but I'll post some demos anyway. Toward the end of rofl3.dm2 his hyperblaster looks like me when i'm taking a piss in the morning, it goes everywhere.

Oooh almost forgot ->  :forceac:

L4m3r Demos / bot? or bot?
« on: September 22, 2008, 06:31:57 PM »
What do you think?

Spotted this player 'stinker' today (vanilla server). I was playing him on previous maps and there was almost no way to dodge his railshots.
Of course he acted like he didn't know what I was talking about but he moved and turned like a total turd and yet he hit people with ridiculous accuracy. It's a pretty boring demo and at one point the score board blocks the view (forgot to put it away... doh), but the first shots alone should be enough to see what he was doing.

Trouble Shooting / Little pig, little pig, let me in! (coop server)
« on: August 12, 2008, 03:28:51 PM »
Hmm as of today I'm getting a connection refused when I try to connect to coop. In my config I have set 'spectator 1' which sometimes gets me the same result if the server spectator limit is full. Setting it back to 0 before reconnecting always fixes it but not this time. Now that I think of it Coop doesn't even recognize the spectator command.

Don't know if it has anything to do with it but one other thing I noticed a couple of days back was that I couldn't use 'give grenades'. The other (tx) coop server had alowed us to use 'give grenades' but for some reason that didn't work for me while it did for other players. Am I being caught in a subnet ban or is there something else going on?  :?:

L4m3r Demos / 'gunny' the stupid bot.
« on: April 01, 2008, 11:27:52 AM »
Recorded a botuser named 'gunny' on the DM server, about an hour and a half ago. He wasn't good so it was easy to spot, just watch the first two frags in the demo (his 9th and 10th frag). In the 2nd demo you can see his blaster just goes everywhere, as if it was set to autofire.

Quake / new duelmap
« on: January 27, 2008, 05:38:38 PM »
Hi guys, I've been working diligently on this map for weeks now and I guess it's about time to let it fly. All of my previous maps were designed with ffa in mind, so for a change I've tried to make a more serious duel map. I know that it usually takes a while before any new map gets adopted as a serious tourney candidate (if at all) but nevertheless I decided to just to take a shot at it. All I can do is try to deliver something with a professional look and feel so hopefully it turned out that way. Anyways, feel free to check out the map, I've been working long enough on this freaking thing so it feels good to finally kick it out the door. Thanks to Defiant, D4rk, Trigo and Rockford for feedback and testing.
(IMO the map looks best with somewhat "darker" settings. Setting used for lighting build: gl_modulate 4, vid_gamma 0.65, intensity 3)

/dev/random / The end of Saddam
« on: December 29, 2006, 08:07:15 PM »
From BBC News: - Final arrangements are being made for the execution of Saddam Hussein, which now appears imminent.
Iraq's Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, has said he wants the execution to take place before the end of the year. (...) Several reports quoted senior Iraqi officials as saying the execution would take place at 0600 local time (0300 GMT) on Saturday.

The execution:
Saddam Hussein will be hooded with hands tied behind his back.
Government and religious officials, a lawyer and a doctor will act as witnesses.
The execution will be filmed to provide proof of his death.

"No-one can oppose the decision to execute the criminal Saddam"  Nouri Maliki, Iraqi Prime Minister.

> How do you feel about this?
On the one hand I feel the dog should be executed but on the other hand I'd rather see him rot away in some filthy dungeon.
Not that I feel sorry for him but maybe it's got something to do with the fact that I've always had mixed feelings about the death penalty, or because of the interval between his capture and the execution (~3 years) or maybe even because he's become a living caricature over the years... I don't know. But in spite of mixed feelings there are always exceptions and I think this is the right thing to do.

Skins, Models and Maps / Crosshairs - a whole bunch
« on: September 07, 2006, 06:36:56 PM »
> crosshairs.zip
After a few hours of clicking, staring and drooling (in other words idiot-therapy) I ended up with this set of 21 crosshairs. :dohdohdoh: Nothing terribly spectacular as they're basicly just a handful pixels but there might just be something there you'd like to try ingame.
Few instructions for the average Joe:) To edit or make a pakfile use something like PakScape. Rename the crosshairs you like to use form the set to ch1, ch2 or ch3. (or ch1.pcx, ch2.pcx, ch3.pcx if you have enabled file extensions). Custom crosshairs can only be read from a 'pics' folder within a pakfile so if you're making a new pak just make a new folder with PakScape, call it pics and copy/paste 3 crosshairs in there. Then save it as pak#. If you want to try out more crosshairs you're going to have to replace them in the pakfile.
If you use the standard 3.20 client you can only use up to 9 .paks, where files from the pak with a higher number will overwrite the files from lower numbered paks. So if for instance if you already have custom crosshairs in pak5.pak then the new ones must be in a pakfile with a higher number. Most newer clients also read .png files, so if you'd like to use a .png crosshair you dont have to rename the .pcx crosshairs. Those clients will automatically use the .png versions if found.

Quake / clear console
« on: July 08, 2006, 05:24:25 PM »
Hey admin(s) I was wondering, is there a reason for clearing the clients consoles right before doing a "&%trf rbkck"? It's not a real problem or anything but it sometimes is rather annoying when I'm trying to read up in my console and/or when I've just typed something only to see it cleared. :headscratch:

L4m3r Demos / fake
« on: April 24, 2006, 04:38:41 PM »
Unless a b-user is overdoing it like that Beeno dude (see the thread in this demo section), I'm almost certain most people will not see it when it's used in a more subtle way, like in these demos recorded on vanilla last night. It's hard to explain how to recognize a b-user, but when you're playing someone and you know this game in and out you immediately notice it when a shot gets corrected. Whenever that's the case I start chasing. I think it's the same thing when watching animated human beings. Since we're all accustomed to how the human body moves we immediately notice when the movement is flawed. In video games the player's model and firing direction go out of sync and the shots snap at the target in a split sec. As far as I can tell this dude is a fake but I'm sure some of you will disagree. ;)

Quake / chatbans
« on: August 19, 2005, 07:37:23 AM »
Admin/console,

Lately I'm getting more and more pissed off by noisy bigmouths on the servers, it's the worst on Vanilla. Especially airheads like Chunk of Duke (aka Floating Turd?), everyonefrom{PIT}, kerkoff and Crusty. To name a few...
It's fag this and fag that, and if they somehow manage to win a game you get treated to a nice "fuck all of u" or "gg fags" Bah, please do something about it. I find people who are constantly swearing and acting like jerks just as annoying as cheaters. Probably more.

Two questions:
-Why not give rcon rights to some of the regulars? One guy can't monitor all servers.
-Why not use the chatban that comes with q2admin? What's there to lose, freedom of speech?

It's not that much work to use chatban commands to make a list of banned messages, like anything with *fuck*, *fag* and *nigg* in them. It will discourage the use of those words because it's pretty annoying to see "message banned" after typing a sentence which has one of the banned words in it.
It doesn't always bother me that much but there are some real creeps who seem only interested in offending people to get a reaction and are trying to get on everyone's nerves.

Please just consider it, chatfilters can always be undone.

Quake / dm4/ dm7 -fix?
« on: July 07, 2005, 10:44:32 AM »
Edit: I got a version of dm7 up for download, here's the link to the map and some info: http://home.versatel.nl/djbloot/q2dm7/

---
Hi guys,

For a couple of years I have been making maps for Q2 (here's a link to some of my work) and although I've stopped making new custom maps there's still one thing I'd like to do.

I am seriously thinking about making some subtle changes to the maps dm4 and dm7. There have been many "remakes" of dm1 but I can't think of one dm4- and/or dm7- remake.
Personally I dislike cheap conversions of anything but I think the changes I have in mind can really help make these maps less annoying.
I'm certainly not planning on rebuilding the maps (well, after the bsp to map conversion I will have to start from scratch:), or changing the layouts, all I'd like to do is fix the horrible side trims on the walkways and perhaps some more minor fixes.

It could be fun to have tastyspleen-versions of dm4 and dm7. At least it can't hurt to try and it doesn't cost anything. However it would make more sense to "fix" the maps if more people would like to see it happen. Of course there are people who like these maps the way they are but like I said I don't plan on changing layouts, just some subtle things.

Should I give it a go and if so do you have some suggestions?
