I have a new server set up running the Vortex mod - [Rejects Dedicated Vortex Arena @]

Vortex is an RPG mod for Quake II, similar in vein to the KOTS mod.

The server is running Chilean Vortex v2.65, not GHz's Vortex. As of right now, the server is not completely set up the way I want it to be (q2admin is still not functional right now), generally speaking however, it is functional, and anything I do from now on won't affect anybody's characters. (I also backup everybody's characters every month).

If you already know how to play Vortex, let me know if there's anything I can do to improve the server in ways I can actively change.

Things that I can change about the server:
  • The maplist (Each play mode is restricted to 64 maps, however)
  • The amount of pregame time before combat starts
  • The rate in which people gain experience and credits (There are options to change the amount of experience gained in both PvP and PvM, meaning that it's possible to make it so that you can gain more experience in PvP as opposed to PvM {default}, vice-versa)
  • The amount of experience needed for a level up
  • Anything involving characters, that includes experience, credits, any type of points, and possibly character classes of pre-existing characters (I haven't tested this yet, but I do know it is an option with rcon)
  • Unique runes

Things that I cannot change about the server:
  • ANY changes to the source code, which includes:
    • The effectiveness of any aspect of every ability, weapon, talent, item, and class.
    • The effectiveness and rate of appearance of runes excluding uniques (when it comes to effectiveness).
    • Any aspect of monster AI.
    • Points gained after level-ups.
    • Adding new physical content.
    • Any technical details of the mod whatsoever (this is kind of hard to explain, but it pretty much includes anything I haven't already covered. Say you want the vrxmenu to change; how the vrxmenu is displayed is dictated in the source code, which is something I have no control over. Use your judgement for this one, but don't feel afraid to come to me about it).

I'm simply somebody who hosts the version of Vortex that I wanted to run, I cannot code, and I cannot change anything about the source; I had to get quadz (the admin of the Tastyspleen servers) to help me compile the .so file needed to just run the server. I really appreciate having people come up to me to call bugs to my attention, but just know that there's very little I can do about it.

Know, however, that if you exploit game-breaking bugs in the source code, your character will be at risk for deletion or worse.

This is beyond lame, if it is indeed true that my entire subnet is banned. do I fix it?
