Gabriel.

You might like it if you like heaven vs hell type stuff.  Entertaining but not very satisfying.

Hmmm,

I noticed he got better too!!  He killed me like 8/10 games.  I had never lost to him before so I was pretty despondent, hehe.  It didn't seem like he was cheating though.  Is it someone different?

On maps with chain I find it pretty annoying.

Trouble Shooting / Playing demo files with extension *.mvd2
« on: October 25, 2008, 04:51:49 PM »
Hey Guys,

I just downloaded a few demos of purri and damiah and came across the file extension *.mvd2.  When I try to play one, it gives an error message that previously I fixed by using r1q2 to play, but this time it's not working.

Does anyone know about this new type of demo?  What is it?

Thanks,
Crazed

I just saw "The Day of the Jackal" - the 1973 film.

They made a more recent remake of it called Jackal with Bruce Willis not that long ago.  Well, after searching for a good movie and checking all the ratings this movie consistently came up as one of the top of all time!  Thus the remake...

It did not live up to its reputation.  Certainly because it is dated.  But man, how dated.

The story is this: a hit man is hired to kill Charles de Gaulle, the French President, because he decided to allow Algeria its independence.  This enrages some segments of the French population and they decide to assassinate de Gaulle.

When they first meet with the hitman.  He comes in, tells them it will cost $500,000.  He'll need half now, half after it's finished.  They reluctantly but quickly agree.  He then tells them to wire the money to a certain bank account and that effectively he will disappear and not be able to be contacted by them...  They take it in stride and out he goes essentially with $250,000 and no way to be contacted.  There are these sort of story problems throughout the movie.

Of course, you have to take the movie with a grain of salt.  It's old, and it's interesting more for what they can get away with in the story than the story itself, which ploddingly moves slowly, slowly along.  It was 2.5 hours and really boring.

Interesting to see what the ancestor of the spy/action type flick was though!

Quake / Zoom Bind Toggle
« on: August 06, 2008, 11:29:18 PM »
Hey All,

This came up in-game with someone wanting a simple toggle zoom bind... I'm sure there might be a better place to post it - I'm sorry I'm so lazy and daft as to not find it.

Here's the bind - type it in exactly as written into your config for a simple toggle zoom bind.

First - pick the key you want to use to toggle zoom - in this case I'll use mouse3.
Second - pick the fov (the smaller the number the more you zoom in) you want to zoom to - I'll pick 40.
Third - umm... well... just know what your normal fov is - mine is 105

---------------------------------------------------------------

bind mouse3 zoomin

alias zoomin "set fov 40; bind mouse3 zoomout"

alias zoomout "set fov 105; bind mouse3 zoomin"

----------------------------------------------------------------

Replace mouse3, 40, and 105 with the values you want to use and you have a quick, simple zoom.

Hope this helps.
