Science / Re: The Ye Science Thread

yep. same as I understood.
theoretically, an object can only travel up to 99.99999 % of light speed since at light speed the objects mass would be infinite.

An interesting corollary is that time is frozen for photons.

So when we look back with Hubble at light from galaxies emitted 13 billion years ago, no time has passed for those photons during their entire trip.

:dohdohdoh:

An interesting corollary to the corollary is that the dual photon-wave nature of light implies that the photon was radiated in all directions from its source and is therefore seen to be everywhere in the universe all at once, from its perspective.

Observing the light as either or will make it the other right? So make sure you think its a wave when you want it to be a photon? Then we could use it as a long range binary computer.  :dohdohdoh:

Just throwing this out there but, I was under the impression that the closer a large object gets to the speed of light the more its mass increases therefore the  speed "retarder" kicks in. Unless they come up with some way to create a "bubble" where mass has no impact light speed will never happen. 99% could be acheived in theory though the fuel would also have to be close to infinate...right?
Plus course calculations at light speed would have to be precalculated as a course correction in flight would be too late. Gotta have a map of where your going so someone would have to go out first to check the "terrain", which means slower than light speed travel for someone for a looooong time. So a couple millennia from now we may have a map to use for close to light speed travel, but not a very big one...if we start right now.

Sometimes stupid works out when you are also lucky. :dohdohdoh:

Yeah, dunno if this dudes ever seen two mature bucks sparring during the rut before, but I've seen it on several hunting shows before, and that's enough to convince me that I don't want a living breathing buck getting that close to me with his head.

There's a game ranch not far from Stone Mountain. When I used to go there as kid, it never scared me at all to feed the deer there. Even took a girl there on a date once when I was in college. But then I got into hunting and learned a little bit about the habits of deer. Went with my mom and sister to take my two little nephews to go feed the animals there once. Made me nervous as hell with these big mature bucks coming up to them and taking food from their hands. Especially when more than one would come over and start kinda nudging each other out of the way to get to the food.

Turkey is still on here I believe, which I wanted to do and have a tag for, but I am too busy to get to it...  ;)

Turkey season is usually in the spring. It is in Georgia anyway. Hunting seasons are always gonna run during mating seasons. They don't want people killing pregnant game.

No it started here last weekend, my buddy Dave that I work with goes every year. He uses a 10 gauge, BOOM!  :rocketright:  There are so many turkey out where I live, at certain times of the year I have to stop in the road and wait for them to move. I wish I could just get out and blast one with my 9mm which I always carry, it would be so easy they are not afraid of the car at all it seems.

Wish we could use rifles to hunt the deer here, it's shotguns only. My dad does have a 12 gauge with a rifled barrel but I'll have to practice with that sucker as I have only ever used mine to hunt small game and birds. There are so many deer here it is ridiculous..I see a buck almost every day, and doe even more here. Turkey is still on here I believe, which I wanted to do and have a tag for, but I am too busy to get to it...  ;)

Or... here's another way to deal with it... and try to stay with me here, this gets super complicated...

...LEAVE THE SERVER. :sarcastic:

Nah why leave, I get teamed by aliens all the time, and will herd with a cow or two on occasion  ;) so either deal with it, bring a friend or I guess yes you can leave, but then you are just letting them win....

When I had a flip phone I had the star trek sound (the communicators opening) when i would flip it open, it was awesome. Now my ring tones are different for everyone. My brothers ring tone is a song he wrote, and plays on an acoustic/electric guitar.

<jdolan> anyone else think |iR|DEATH_TO_ISLAM should be banned until he can come up with an appropriate handle?
<|iR|DEATH_TO_ISLAM> anyone else think jdolan should suck my dick?

It's weird that while we have people killing one another over a concept, others of us are free to contemplate the nuance level at which denigration of a particualar concept becomes acceptable.

(Or, perhaps likewise, the rejection of the idea that denigration of a concept warrants more than stern letters to the editor.)

If that's true, then my hypothesis is

<|iR|DEATH_TO_ISLAM>

is morally equivalent to

<|iR|DEATH_TO_ABRAHAMIC_MONOTHEISM>

is morally equivalent to

<|iR|DEATH_TO_CAPATILAISM>

is morally equivalent to

<|iR|DEATH_TO_ASTROLOGY>

is morally equivalent to

<|iR|DEATH_TO_NEWTONIAN_PHYSICS>

is morally equivalent to

<|iR|DEATH_TO_THE_PHLOGISTON_THEORY>

all of which is an obvious play on the already-existing

<|iR|DEATH_TO_AMERICA>

etc.

e.g. these are all *concepts*

none of which target *people* but *ideas*.

IDEAS ARE ALWAYS UP FOR DEBATE

right?

N.B. standards for debate may require evidence, etc.; but nobody gets killed for not providing evidence: just ridiculed or kindly turned away

tl;dr: DEATH_TO_TOTALITARIAN_OVERWATCH

Havn't been in these parts in awhile, but man do I love your thought process.  :bravo:
