you dont get stuff added to an exception list fix the problem or deal with being banned from some servers

whats the point of customizing my paks if i have to change the models.

stock works just fine rip out the offending file from your custom pak so the game uses the default one in pak0

Shit. Absolutely not. Your hand grenade projectile models are indeed modified. They are 3 or 4 times larger than the original models, thusly they are considered cheats. The ammo pack hand grenade models are fine, they are the same size as the originals from what I see. But your thrown hand grenade models are way too large. I suggest using the stock model and making a skin for that one.

You can change the skin on any model.  I have a green rocket and grenade.

If the shape of those are changed it's most commonly to add spikes/lines.

well it's not like i intentionally wanted to change a grenade model.  if anyone was going to cheat,  why would anyone use a pak from the tasty archive. i would think that they are at the very least submitted with some supervision for cheats.  seems to be just an irregular model in one of the paks. hand grenades aren't exactly the most used weapon of choice.   

they arent screened as far as i know, when a spike or something is found it is removed, pretty clean through that method but its not exactly screened

what are you insinuating? i originally said it won't allow me to connect. more specifically it kicks me on connect. gives me a objects/sshotgun model is modified message at DF.  whether its preventing me from connecting, or announcing to the server i have modified models makes no difference. i would think they are one in the same. you might want to look again.

if a file is giving you trouble, delete the modified version and run the stock version

its not that hard, playing with stock is no disadvantage for anything you play

its DF i can't connect to. I suggested verification. that is all. really makes no difference anyways.

The difference is, someone would have to go out of their way to download the exact model you are using, verify that it's not oversized or spiked and then generate a hash value for it, add this value to their server's ac whitelist and give a fuck about you in the first place.

Since it doesn't affect your free time to dick around and suck on the servers, it's obviously not important to you.


The DF servers are being used in tournaments with limitted model lists. They kick for all models and sounds that are non-stock and which would provide the player an advantage like your giant nades. Those nades would allow a player to easily avoid stepping on a nade or much more easily dodge one in the air. Thus they create an advantage that, in a tournament environment, is unnacceptable.

Kicking for a bad model and announcing that you're using one are NOT one and the same.
One prevents a player from ever using home-made spiked models on the server and showing up with "valid" AC.
The other does not.

For someone who is so very concerned about the use of spiked models by others, you should probably learn a few things about how cheat detection and prevention work in q2 instead of just making idiotic claims with information you pulled out of your ass.

maybe you should learn how to read edited posts. for one. like i said all my pak fiels are from tasty archive. Somehow your trying to insinuate i modified the file myself. 2) since we're talking about learning things... learn to stop sticking your nose where it doesn't belong, nor when your input is not wanted. admin is capable of this. my request was to review the pak and suggest if it was possible to verify the pak from someone who actually has authorization to do so. (R1ch or console). i don't need to hear it from a wannabe central admin, whose server i don't even play on.

Btw, nowhere in my post did I insinuate that I thought you were smart or capable enough to make your own model.
I just mentioned that it can be done in order for someone to cheat the system.
