I used APR in a different mod, i loved it. I use r1q2 in tdm and i dont find anything wrong with it...APR had some cooler features(i liked the cartoon skins, the lagometer was useful, and of course the winamp system) but i could careless.

Sure, having the choice between several options is nice. And whoever likes some client best or some other,  I couldn't care less.

But I always find it sad when good products/ideas just don't get the attention that they deserve, while other products/ideas are used everywhere - only because of better marketing, hype or simple lack of knowledge.

For me, a product that has matured well enough, is timeless - far from being "dated" or something, especially when it even DOES have all the cool features (independent physics etc.).

On the other hand, for me R1Q2 is inferor to AprQ2 because (among other aspects I mentioned) it doesn't have line wrap in chat texts:
Already this single flaw disqualifies the product to me and makes it (basically) useless, unusable:
I do not just play, I often have some nice little conversation with some of you folks, and when I can't read the end of a line of text, the whole program is worthless to me.

This doesn't mean, I do not use R1Q2 sometimes - I do, just for some moody change from time to time and especially when I am only playing and not chatting. I also use q2pro occasionally. It is all about variation and a good selection of clients. But so far nothing compares to my favourite: AprQ2. ;-)

While I am convinced that way too much cheating goes on on the servers (not everything gets detected, I am sure) and while I appreciate measures to prevent some of the cheating, I am not in favour of relentless enforcement of anticheat. Linux users, for one, cannot use anticheat, it is simply not possible.

Starting as a newbie years ago, I suspected many if not all were cheating (therefore my nick name, hehe) - later, I considered it as a rather rare scenario - in the meantime, I am convinced again (to some degree) that way more cheating is going on than most would believe. But okay, this is hard to prove. But a global and general enforcement of anticheat doesn't take care of those who use Linux, FreeBSD etc.

 probably could have tweeked some things and matched r1q2's feel and gotten used to it.

on a bright note,  apr is the only prog i use to convert to .dem to .avi
  some of the particle settings are fantastic for that,  if not for gameplay.

I like Aprq2 myself, and dumping demos to a video file is very cool to be able to do.  I wish they would have put this in the Linux version.  Though instead of having it interface with VFW, which is Windows only, I think it would have been better to have it use Mencoder.  Just like ZSNES does, and it would be cross-platform.

What's the image hidden in your avatar arch? (and what happens when you lose the cookie that lets you autologin to TS? do you have your user name in a *.txt for copy and pasting?)

No hidden image, it's just supposed to be a snowy image like you get on a TV with no signal, nothing more.  As far as logging in, I just have to use my original name I signed up with
