Author Topic: Most improved Tastyspleener? (Read 12978 times)

Just wondering who you guys might think is the player (or players) that's seen the most improvements in recent memory. A couple that come to my mind are Tr3y and Laurelin. I remember Tr3y being mostly a pushover for a while, then all of a sudden, on DS Edge Madhouse especially, he's got a really good rail, and decent chain too I believe. And I remember thinking of Laurelin as just another one of the novice players that would always remain in Vanilla for all "her" playing days (use to assume it was a girl). But I find Laurelin to be quite a challenging opponent by this time.

I know a handful of players have mentioned KobraKlaws in another thread as well. I don't remember him too much prior to his rail improvements, so can't give him my personal vote (not that he doesn't deserve it).

Maybe we'll get some candidates here listed, and make a poll. Will give those players that have worked extra hard to improve themselves get the public aknowledgement they deserve.

it would be nice to have another tourney server. Especially if we had east, north, west, south etc, so we could help even the ping between players.

Am I that Jesus guy or are you actually talking about someone named jesus.Cause with the long hair people called me Jesus!Anyway, MaxPing and Maxping Jr. especially have improved much since theyre ping has been lowered.May not be the best improvement, but certainly the fastest.As for trey and Lauerlin, they have gotten better for sure.I think I need the vote for most missed shots in a game and still wins. lol!

i agree with all of treys picks whole heartedly

as for mya i think she has improved but not the most, when i came back to q2 recently mya was the first person i played, in my opinion she was as decent as she was then as she is now, its not a drastic improvement, she already had the basic skills, laurelin on the other hand has improved alot, i remember when i first 1v1ed him he wasnt too much of a challenge for my rusty self, then as we progressed he challenged me more and more, unfortunately hes hit a bit of a rut lately, but i still think he has come a long way(ill still whoop your ass in q2dm1 as if it was one of the first times we played together

), crazed also has improved, i remember seeing him play more of a defensive aim game due to poor strategy, now thats not the case and he challenges me with his strategy as well, tr3y you have improved as well, but i think you already had the basics being an old school gx player, you were like me, we jus refined our skills (well for me it was more an improvement in terms of aiming, and my strategy changed due to team play, which probably helped my 1v1 game as well)

hmm i cant think of anyone else who hasnt been mentioned already, if i think of anyone ill give em props

I would say I've seen an improvement in tr3y/corky/banes/mya, the fact that it happened right around the time they started playing tdm is no coincidence either, you play against better players than yourself, you in turn become a better player yourself, I'm glad to see you guys/girl sticking it out everyday :P

I dunno if you guys remember that "..Uhlouis.." guy ... but he used to be my roomate. I showed him quake 2 one day ... set up his keys and let him play. He started playing more often, and i swear ... by a 2 month period, that guy was just about mopping the floor w/ me. Too bad he quit playing, he had alot of potential. Oh well, thats who i vote for.

My real life friend, whom I introduced to Quake 2, who goes by the nick "monkey", usually plays on Mage or DS Madhouse, but he's on tasty's here and there. Man, he's gotten reaaaally good in a short period of time. I'm not fantasmical in railgun vs railgun duels, but he seems to edge me out there already, and I've been playing 6+ years or so. He's really quite good for only playing I'd say 4-5 months max, just FFA, and not as often as I do.

I wondered what happened to Uhlouis... I always liked playing with him....
