VATS -

So cool. In combat you can pause the action and bring up a targeting computer that lets you specify body parts to shoot at. After you make you selection the camera switches to a cinematic angle and your shot is fired. LOL I was headshotting radroaches left and right.

Basically it's Oblivion with cool new tech. The landscapes are pretty damn good.

I heard it was amazing to all new fans to the series, and that fall out 2 junkies are not impressed.

I do see their point. Fall out 1 and 2 are flat out classic turn based RPG adventures (along the lines of the Ultima Series) with a clever joke for a theme. Fall out 3 is an expansion on the joke without the same consideration given to the gameplay. I personally never liked fallout 1 or 2 and would probably love 3. However considering I enjoyed the hell out of Legacy of Kain, and wanted to puke based on Soul Reaver. I can understand how a fan can be put off by radical changes in gameplay and genre that amount to a sell out, or damn near close to it.

The gameplay is quite interesting. You have, on the surface, a shotter with RPG elements that are enhanced with your gaining of XP. But when you hit the VATS key you have targetted shots that use the Motion Points you build up. It gives people a chance that aren't used to the FPS elements in the game to still get their rocks off one step at a time. Check out one of the many videos on youtube about it.

I'm aware of the mechanic. I think it's sweet. What I'm saying is that you could expect the same reaction from a Final Fantasy first person shooter. Fall out was a hard core turn based strategy role playing game. Another example is Ultima 8. Ultima 6 and 7 fans abhor Ultima 8 because it was a jump timing adventure game that had no party system. I personally love Ultima 8 and dislike Ultima 7.

I warn you guys right now, The game will have thousands of bugs, many that would be game breaking, which they will NEVER fix. This is how Bethesda operates, they abandoned their Oblivion fan base and left us to clean up after them.

I went out and got Oblivion about a year ago and it worked fine...could be a fully updated retail release that had all those kinks ironed out. Fallout3 had an occasional crash to desktop but that has dissappeared now.

Oblivion is still in beta, it's like they released it without any testing at all.

The last patch only fixed one major game breaker, and they wouldn't have done it all if it wasn't for all the media attention it generated. Then there was the big controversy after that where they publicly refused to fix a big screw up in an addon they had just released. These people couldn't give a fat fuck about their games or their customers.

I have never seen or heard of such a buggy game, but I still love it to death. Thankfully we can fix most of the bugs ourselves with mods, but that means Xbox and PS3 users shit out of luck.

Fallout 3 can't be modded, and therefor, no bugs can be fixed. I truly feel sorry for you people

I've got Oblivion and I CAN'T GET OFF IT.

Dam it's addictive as hell.
But ti does have bugs. It randomly crashes, either to the desktop, itself, or the entire PC. Don't even try to alt tab out for a bit, it'll crash when you come back.
But who cares??? It's still the SHIT
