well iv noticed that after running around in vanilla i sometimes forget what weps iv picked up and that got me thinking

is it possible to add a bar on bottom or right hand side of screen showing what weps you have picked up kinda like unreal tournament???

ah you rail guys gettin confused over multiple guns  nah im j/k, but it sounds like a cool idea...maybe under the icon having a small number with the ammo of the gun as well?

This could definitely be done with a client side enhancement as well.  When you send the server the "inven" command to view your inventory, the server prepares and sends to your client a specially formatted message, detailing your player's entire inventory list.  It also modifies your player's stats array with a flag to indicate that the inventory list should be drawn.  There's a simple check in the client to only draw the inventory list if this flag is set.  However, the client could opt to always draw the inventory regardless of the stats flag, and to do so in a more attractive/usable way.  It would also be quite straightforward to intelligently request "inven" updates from the server (i.e. when you pickup a new item).  This would keep the always-on inventory display up to date as you accumulate items.

There may be some minor issues with mods that overload items and things, but in general it would still work.

LITHIUM2 has the hud,in which u can see all of your ammo and which weapons you have in the inven,wouldnt it be possible to take the lithium2 source and add this to say,opentdm?

As far as I know, the source to the Lithium mod was never released.  But that's true, using standard Q2 game progs, you could also write a new layout program and duplicate some inventory figures in the playerstate->stats array.  It's just not "the right way" to do it -- but not many Quake mods do things the right way, anyway
