My computer doesn't like Quake 2

Lately when I've been playing multiplayer, my computer has been beeping at me every so often. When it does the video pauses for a slpit sec. Any ideas on what this could be? I'm not sure where the beep is coming from, but I'm assuming it's the graphics card.

post your system specs. Sometimes if it beeps your overworking the comptuer and it cannot catch up. like a stuck key. either that or it could be overheating. but its probably low on system resources? post your system specs...

I've had the same issue for as long as I can remember MS.
It's really random, but usually during fast action, usually when I'm running really fast racing to get to a certain area. The PC speaker will beep at me, and everything will pause for a brief second, and I mean very brief, like less than half a second probably. Still quite annoying though.
I have a Athlon 1.33 Ghz
Nforce2 Chipset Mobo
768MB DDR RAM - 512 in dual channel
64 MB Shared to the onboard GeForce4 MX440? video
SB Live! Value card

My system:
PII 450
256 ram
Ati Rage Pro
Win98
I don't hold down my keys too often because my move forward and fire buttons are mouse 1 & 2. Ah Well. Guess I'll just deal with it.

hey moving shadow you want a p3 450? your board should support it plus you get the sse2 instructions that the p3s had. im not sure if you can overclock on your system but i had this 450 runing in the 600's for the while i had it.

Thanks for the offer, but I've picked up a new computer! My old one is really on it's last leg, and I found a good deal ona moderate computer. 150$ for 2.0 athlon 2400+, 40 gig, cdr, and 17inch monitor. However my videocard still sucks haha.
thanks again!

My parents computer had that problem. When I used to play at home on it, I couldn't play on opengl or the computer started acting funny and it beeped at me every now and then. I found it quite humorous actually. I'd be walking around a corner and then the computer would stop taking commands from the kb and I'd run into a wall and keep walking that general direction for up to 5 seconds. It would beep and it usually caught back up with the kb. The more players there were, the more it happened. But I believe it was because of onboard graphics. It helped out when I changed it to software to play.
