What are some of your favorite art pieces? Digital art, traditional art, photography, sculpture, etc ...

I've always been quite fond of symbolist Jean Delville. One of my favorites, "Satan's Treasures". A brilliant usage of color and effect for it's time. I think the band Morbid Angel used this piece as their album cover for Formula's Fatal to the Flesh.

I also love Timothy Patrick Butler. His art reminds me of some of those weird hallucinogen-inspired album covers from the 60's. Usually very symbolic and perverted.

I do like that "Satan's Treasures" one there ... And of course HR Geiger, some really amazing stuff.

Since I just recently moved into a new place I've been looking around for prints that are different than the usual crap you find at any retail store. So ... part of the reason I started the thread was to get some ideas from some of you, considering a lot of you probably have similar tastes.

But, I've been spending days looking through deviant art, and there are many interesting pieces there. But are there any other artists any of you would recommend i check out?

A few years ago I had mentioned to my wife that I liked this painting... probably while we were visiting an art museum. She got a print of it for my birthday that year.

If you like the dark presence of Giger's work, you might also like Paul Booth. He's mostly a tattoo artist. He's one of THE BEST in the business, his waiting list is years and years long. He did the eyelids nailed open on the Max Cavelera's (Soulfly, former frontman for Sepultura) inner arm. He did the weird snake thing fucking the chicks on Phil Anselmo's sleeve. I think he did ALL of Kerry King's tattoo work. My favorites are his "greenman" that he has often tattooed on many people, each one unique.

Paul Booth is AYE MAY ZING. Period. Drawing on paper or canvas with pencils and paintbrushes is a much different technique than you'd use to ink living flesh. This guy can do it ALL. Pretty sure he's even done some sculpting and metalwork before.

A friend of mine was scheduled to get inked by him years ago when he was touring with Slipknot for the Tattoo The Earth tour they were doing or whatever it was called. The fest was held at the Roseland Horse Park or whatever it's called, somewhere near Portland Oregon. The health department wouldn't allow them to ink anyone because of the "dirty environment" at the equestrian park. She still got to hang with him most of the day though. She got put on his ungodly long waiting list (something like 3 years maybe) after that for his studio in New York, but she passed away before the time came to do the deed.
