Hey guys, I'm coming from the Quake III Arena community, here to try out Quake II.

I'm new, and need some help.

What are some useful commands I can use to make screen brighter, and less lag. (Not that there is any)

I love your servers

Also, any useful downloads I can get to make quake2 look better or anything?

I would highly recommend the r1q2 client along with the r1gl video driver. Looks much smoother than your basic v3.20 clients graphics. Download speeds for maps, models etc are much faster also due to the improved net code.

Once you have that, I'd also highly recommend the hi-resolution textures that are discussed here:

These make the maps look much better.

There are other clients out there available that have some very nice features too, like EGL, but from my experience it doesn't run too well for multiplayer. R1q2 is what the majority of folks use around here.

has some brightskins , sounds , textures and more.

q2 is the best game ever made , tied only maybe with diablo2
