Is haunted the admin of all servers? or just the tourney servers?

haunted is far from the type of person that should be given admin privileges of any kind
I must say that this is a major slip up for console

Let's see....

First of all, of all the possible evils in the world, kicking a spectator who is blabbing in mm1 during a game, doesn't seem all that high up on the list to me.

That said, there has also been a consistent pattern to every complaint we've received about haunted's use of referee powers.  The explanations all look like this:

I kicked you for talking in mm1(something I've warned you for doing in the past) you came back then continued to do so. I then temporarily banned you for the duration of the match so I could play without you talking shit to me as a spectator. You then evaded the ban so you could talk more shit to me while I was playing in the same match.

In other words, I would be happier to see evidence of haunted taking action to limit disruptions on the server on behalf of all other players who do not have referee powers, instead of so much focus on disruptions to his own personal game.

Point is you kicked and banned me, yet with Razor you muted him b4 any measure was taken about banning.

Indeed, in the case of a verbal disruption, the sequence should typically be:

  warning
  mute
  warning  (if mute is avoided by reconnect and disruption continues)
  temp-ban     

Additionally, as I've stated elsewhere, ideally the warning should state what action will be taken, e.g:

  "mm1 please"            warning 1
  "mm1 or mute"         warning 2
  mute

When referees adhere to the above, I've noticed I get to spend less of my time writing posts such as this.

As for the pattern you speak of, I think it lies elsewhere..somewhat. I tell people to please stop talking in mm2 all the time when what was said had nothing to do with me. 9/10 times, they say sorry, and i say no problem. The pattern is that the people who have done / do this to me, all seem to neglect their warnings and persist to keep coming for more.

Except that, for some reason, this doesn't seem to happen very often to the other 18 people in the Tourney Referees group.  (Only about seven of them are still active... but even counting when they all were active.)

As such, I can't help but conclude that some aspect of your behavior, attitude, or personality must be contributing to the disproportionate number of complaints generated.

That is in essence a red herring.  Tourney refs need to be aware such people exist, and deal with them in a way that does not give them an easy opening to come here and complain about unfair treatment.

There are at least two reasons I ask referees and admins to follow the "warn first" policy outlined above. 

First, because I believe this policy plays in important role in fostering the expectation that players will be treated in an even-handed and non-capricious manner on our servers.

And second, because it reduces the number of complaints that escalate up to where I'm obliged to spend an afternoon like this.

The constant mm1 spam/shittalk is very annoying even in a lame friendly game going on, this targets all people not just neticz. In this instance, maybe not all, neticz clearly called out haunted when he spoke in mm1...so of course its naturally not going to bother me AS MUCH as it bothered haunted, although it was annoying.  Something like "haunted can you do anything but get owned" or something along those lines, so it was a personal bash to haunted.

Can't there be a code that dictates the usage of mm1?

If a match is warming up then MM1 for all is okay. As soon as the match starts then the people in the match (active players) can only use mm1.

MM2 can only be used by spectators(for chat amongst themselves) and teammates(for chat amongst the team).

OpenTDM does currently have some kind of mode to restrict spectators from speaking mm1.

I'm not sure how it behaves in warmup mode.

When we first put up an opentdm server, we tried out that feature, but apparently it was too restrictive (however it was implemented.)

At the time, with the idea of easing the restrictions somewhat, I considered the possibility of maybe allowing spectators to speak in mm1 once every 45 seconds (or something.)

But anyway - yes, it's certainly possible to try different ideas in code.

But, regardless I said a bunch more beforehand and nothing was done.  I said rtfm sux, nub, all of that.  It was pause in between but he didnt do anything.

I can see if it were restrictive if some of the players in the match wanted to talk to someone who was spectating. Possible solution could be a timeout called and in that timeout time mm1 could be enabled.

Just wondering a few things...how many of those seven admins played/plays tdm AND dueled/duel at the level and frequency of haunt? What I'm driving at is that you asked whether "some aspect of [his] behavior..." sparked the shittalking -- is it a possibility that haunt's numerous posted demos, trick shots/jumps posts, and voluminous thread contributions/observations all add up to one big target symbol for those who personalize q2 to an almost pathological degree,e.g., Bl00D?

I'm not blaming the "victim" here; I'm just pointing out some highly conspicuous circumstances that are almost unique to haunt's "case." He's got some strong, POSTED opinions; he's got some impressive, POSTED demos and clips and maybe above all, he's got tons of..yea you guessed it POSTED condump-backed accusations/defense. Something to consider.

p.s. yo NETICZ: what happened to your zen-like, casual attitude you displayed when you came back to q2? If you're gonna shittalk, at least be original and funny, not spouting wiggerisms -- i'll go oldschool on you -- think crazyfunny like DS-Shaftian, aT-Shek or classy like sh4ms was.
