I happened to be going over some older threads and noticed the connections here that were only visible in hindsight.

afaik, Barn/Twiztid/stinker has been using anticheat and playing legit ever since we suspected him of aimbottin on IRTDM, so I don't mean to bust his balls here, just to make sure that as a community we are all on the same page.

As I see it, when you run out of active servers that you can get away with cheating on, you gotta learn to play without the hax or just not play at all. So far he's chosen the option that requires a pair of testicles so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.


on a related note:

I find it pretty cool that when applied intelligently, Anticheat can function not only as a deterrent but as a way of making people play legit and develop their skill so they don't feel that they need assistance to play. It won't stop all cheaters from trying and it won't fix people being stupid, but it can be used as a tool to enforce a modicum of rehabilitation on those that still want to play q2 but who chose previously to cheat and got caught.
