pak.9 whats legit and what isnt , lets get it settled

im a railer and i made a railer pak for myself i have most of the purries sounds ext , now i know most tourney ppl use purries cuz its the shit , although i did add an additional (talking sound) and thats the water sound we all know its easy to hear but talkin sounds enhance the game a tad ... i wanna start playing all wep tourney but bleh told me its a cheat. I asked quadz about it he had the same thoughts i did ... basically just dont enhance railhum or footsteps witch i didnt and if they are changed its to suppress the sound not to enhance? i need to know the thoughts of the community

and by the way if it is illigal then , in my opinion the purri's sounds should all be illigal because they do enhance the game . just my 2 cents

good players don't need the enhancements anyway. some sounds are easier to recognize for some people than others are, so its really hard to set a concrete boundary here. i use many of purri's sounds and a few others.. most are default though. it really just boils down to what you're comfortable with.  I for one, will never fault someone for altered sounds.  if you want them louder you can make them louder, that option is available to any player. no biggie here.

I could definitely see a modified water sound on a tourney server being more of an issue than something like railz FFA, where it seems irrelevant.

Anyway, if you'll recall, I'd asked you to make a post with the WAV file attached, so others could hear it:

what for it just talks entering water , exiting water .

some players consider even the smallest changes to your setup to be hacks..
like using a high gl_modulate value.

these players are completely stupid and cracked out and they go by the name of coldflo.

I'd say in a team game the water sound is pushing the limit of what you should change because its more informative than the standard "slosh" sound you hear. It may also negate people's ability to use the ol blaster at the water trick, to fool you into thinking they jumped in.

in ffa, theres so much going on it might be more of a handicap than anything.

Really, after playing for any considerable amount of time, all of the sounds are rather recognizable individually - even the water entrance\exit ones. I don't think that changing the sounds is a big deal, but I also don't really see the need most of the time.

the talking I think is annoying,  I did away with the talking health sounds as well and replaced with something else just as recognizable to me.

here are my water sounds,  just enough variation to tell them apart,  and another water sound for items/gibs so you can tell the diff.
its still a water sound, just more of a kerplunk  splash


also including my railgun humm..  not any louder than origional,  just alot creepier

whole pak is on my tasty page,  just about every sound in the game got replaced or altered

so i see no on has a problem with it except herbski , ill keep the sound im now using anti-cheat just incase anyone tries to call me a cheat of any sort
