How does the server do a ban/ mute or whatever to a player? Is it by IP addy or by nick? Also is it possible that a player know an IP addy of another player?
Lastly, there are some players that oftenly do some uncalled for remarks in the server (like racist statements) , can this be reprimanded coz i sometimes feel it pisses of other players..

BTW console is it possible to have one of the servers be given a gladiator bot? Thanks.

Usually, by hostmask or IP.

Also is it possible that a player know an IP addy of another player?

In the context of Q2, no.  Players cannot see IPs of other players.

However, occasionally people find out IPs via IRC or email headers, etc.

I've never tried setting one up... but I don't see why not, as long as there is source code or linux binaries available.

Thanks for your prompt reply. But i would like to ask regarding ban/mute by ip/host mask. what if if some other player would have same ISP as the one banned? like lots of players have dynamic IP's . Anyway Im just curious.

in r1q2, you could try: /ignore YO!

or: /ignore INVITES


...haven't tested these myself, but should work?

Any solution to this yet,,, Nothings seems to work!!! I ignore them all but I just hate the pop up!

quadz, could you make the invitations use a lower print level?  That way players could filter them by setting the "msg" cvar to a threshold higher than the invite chat level.

With the current implementation, I don't think I have that option.  It works by sending an rcon command like:

  rcon sv !stuff NAME WallFly[BZZZ] say YO! [BTF]Jehar INVITES YOU TO GOTO DM - classic deathmatch maps !

However, it would seem something like:

  /ignore INVITES

...should be enough to weed them out.


Edit: Oh.... I guess I already recommended that above.

"pop up" ?

Are you using r1q2?  And /ignore INVITES doesn't work?
