First, I'd like to congratulate you, because you are playing Q2 exactly as id Software intended.

Which is to say, you attempt to end the map as quickly as possible, maximizing use of quad, invuln, powershield, etc.  Frags, frags, frags!  Faster, faster, faster!

Which is fine, if you like that sort of thing.

Most players on xatrix, however, seem to have a much more laid back style. 

Myself, I prefer to leave powerups for beginning players to use as sort of a leveler or boost, if they want.  (Sometimes I get quad for the purpose of throwing a quad trap, because I think they are hilarious. But I'm not much motivated by the one extra frag.)

So, yeah... I don't mind being called a noob compared to players who are really good.  But on the other hand, if you think I'm running around using mostly traps and hand grenades because I think that's the fastest way to finish a map, then you are sorely mistaken.

But you're good at nothing when it comes to Quake 2... Your over all skill level at the game is well below average for the amount of time you spend playing it.

You join RA2 and get owned... you join sheridan when I'm there and get destroyed... I would have a better chance at being successful in TDM then you do in any Quake 2 mod that exists. You're an all around failure. Play a different game, preferably something single player so nobody has to deal with you.

A quad trap?  Does being quadded alter the behaviour of the trap?  I did not know that.  How does that work?

its the same as a normal trap, it eats u
only way to live a trap is using the cheat god mode
trap eating invulnerability defeats the purpose of being "invulnerable"

I don't know if I should be saddened by that, or what.   (Since traps are the reason I love xatrix.)

When I played more regularly, I was frequently in the top spot for "most trap frags".  But not anymore...

These days it seems I'm back to more grenades than traps.

...Heh, anyway...

BTW, the reason EXTERM has so many more trap frags is he uses +ia, then throws dozens and dozens of traps during a single map...  Kind of skews the numbers... 


But anyway, I hope you get my point that not everyone on xatrix has "hitting the fraglimit" as their top priority.

I'm just worried you might be headed down the same path as plastik.   When he first got to tastyspleen, he started playing on vanilla.  He would make statements like, "i've only been here two weeks and i'm already beating everyone on vanilla... I am a quake god!"

There was no way to explain to him the absurdity of that statement.

In the original mod I think quad had no effect on traps.  But xatrix on tastyspleen has some tweaks, like self-damage from the ripper gun, and quad traps...

Quad traps have apparently 4x the pull.  So while with a normal trap you can reach equilibrium by running away from the pull, and maintain some distance from it, a quad trap just completely overpowers you.

The reason I find them so funny is all the visual flailing that goes on.  It pulls someone in at high speed, but usually not dead center, like a putt just missing the hole.  Except it's more like a black hole, there is no way to reach escape velocity.  So the player gets spastically accelerated and decelearted in a highly elliptical orbit until finally impacting with the center and being trapped.  This all takes place in about 0.5 seconds, and looks very ridiculous!

(And if the ground is uneven, a quad trap will likely crater you before it's done flailing you about, the pull is that strong... )
