I'm thinking if they can stabilize and contain antimatter we should be able to anylize it and possibly amass enough to create a substantial anihilation reaction. Problem one is how to contain it without touching it?

We can already create antimatter... it doesn't last very long...

I was listening to a lecture by Richard Feynman on anti-matter not too long ago. The point he was making is that physically, through gravity, we can establish a difference between up and down which is a literal direction. However, there is nothing in physics we can do to prove the existance of relative direction, such as left and right. So the example was that you are able to communicate through a telephone with an alien life form. Neither of you speak the other's language so through time you establish a form of communication and you start describing everything on your world. You tell him about gravity, and animals, and plants, and water, and up and down. You tell him about the solar system and over a matter of years he starts asking about anatomy. In the conversation about anatomy you are trying to express that the heart is on the left side. The alien life form doesn't understand this, so you attempt all forms of referances to express the concept of relative direction and just can't do it without a visual aide. Obviously over the telephone you are limited to voice only and can't show him which way is right or left.

The lecture leads into a discussion on anti-matter. The theory is that for all matter there is anti-matter and if there ever exists anti-matter without it's counter part, then you can expect a significant explosion when they finally meet. Furthermore when you couple anti-matter with it's physical oposite it will not be entire symetrical. In fact the anti-matter will be a mirror image of the matter of it's counter part. So if a clock ticks clockwise, the anti-matter version of the clock will tick counter clockwise.

So when you find this out you rush over to the phone to tell the alien how you can teach him this relative direction using anti-matter. Your call is met with an answering machine message that says: "Finished my space ship to visit your planet. I'll be there soon." So a few days pass and you wait impatiently to meet your alien friend. When he arrives he steps out of his space ship in his green flashy alien suit and pulls off his helmet. To both of your surprise you look exactly the same and both immediatly extend your hands for a handshake. Unfortunately the alien extends his left hand instead.

Couldn't you just describe left and right as the begining of it's positive or negative rotation on the subjects Y axis?

Don't forget that 3d axis are best described as left hand or right hand oriented.
