Quake 2 World

If anyone has checked this project out I need some help. OK, so I took all the files from the snapshot zip they have on the site (quake2world.net). I ran it a couple of times to get everything done, but when I ran the client I got a bunch of colored lights on what appears to be the console. I did all that the developers and other testers said on the forums, but nothing went right. Does anybody know how to get through this? (Sorry if this seems like a stupid topic)

Hi, I'm the Q2W maintainer.

So your problems are the result of a flaky Cygwin rsync.exe.  Rsync is a great protocol for keeping everyone up to date with a rapidly evolving project.  Unfortunately, the only build of rsync we could find for Windows is not very reliable.  If you continue to run Update.bat until it finally succeeds, you should be good to go.

Alternatively, join us on IRC (#quetoo on irc.freenode.net) and I'll sort you out with a one-time full data snapshot.

Yea, we've been accumulating more levels.  I'm really happy with the classic Quake conversions, and the port of Vondur's Aghast.

I'll be showing off and working on Q2W at QuakeCon this week.  Hopefully we'll get some games going too
