I installed my old game Redneck Rampage on this machine. It runs WinXP. Redneck Rampage came out in probably 95 or 96. It runs just fine on my old machine that runs Win98 still, but I'd like to have it on THIS one. It runs in a DOS box on 98. On this machine, when starting the game, it opens a DOS box but just STOPS. It will go no further. I haven't tried installing and trying to run other games that use the Build engine and run in DOS mode such as Shadow Warrior or Duke Nukem 3D. I figure they will probably do the same thing. Anybody know of a way to get these things to run on XP or am I just shit out of luck?

this is your friend
http://www.dosbox.com/
its a dos emulator, but it can be complicated to setup
there are frontends available though
for duke3d or SW, there are native windows versions available here

Also check out
http://buildxp.deathmask.net/
for lots of good info in getting the native exe's to run.
Blood is the best game of the group (arguably anyway), but the most unreliable when it comes to these ports, since the source was never released

Ah crap, I forgot I had Blood, that one is probably my second favorite Build engine game, first being the Redneck Rampage series. I recently tracked down the cuss pack RTS file. When the game came out, you had to buy it for a dollar from the Xatrix website which was to ensure that the person obtaining it was at least 18. Some of the maps were confusing as hell because the keys were not large and brightly colored, you could miss them sometimes. In the stock RTS file, the skinny old coot would holler "I'm gonna git ya boy!", with the he cuss pack he hollers "I'm gonna fuck ya boy!". All kinds of other Deliverance-ish craziness that reminds you of the guests on the Jerry Springer show. Not to mention the turd minions that live in the sewer. Little martian men made out of shit.
Thanks for those links guys, I'll look into it.

RailWolf,
I still use those sayings when I chainsaw someone in Gears of War.
"You're half the man you used to be, HAHA"
"Oh look! You're falling apart"

I don't worship the devil. Jesus is Lord, friend. He died for your sins. He will forgive you if you just ask.
