   QD ... Mat, those are redfish caught in the galveston bay marsh. They are also known as red drum. Excellent eating ! Here's some more Texas baitfish. It's kinda tough casting them with that flyrod though.

pretty close by the ocean, if your speaking of south of new orleans, or galveston area  . ocean give me the fright.

Ive been shark fishing in a caribbean before.. that was pretty cool, but the shark dive was alot more exciting

ive got a great scar from a moray eel though, fucker came out of nowhere and bit right through my wetsuit

The electric eel (Electrophorus electricus) is a long, snake-like fish that can generate electricity. It can produce a 600-volt electric shock. One shock from an electric eel will not kill a person, but repeated shocks will. Electric eels are found in the Amazon River basin and other parts of South America. The electric eels reproduces by laying eggs (it is oviparous). It is not a true eel.
Anatomy: The electric eel grows to be almost 8 feet (2.5 m) long. Most of the internal organs are in the front 1/5 of this fish; the rest of the body contains the electricity-producing organs (modified muscles). The scales covering the body are tiny. The eyes are tiny, and as this fish ages, its vision diminishes. With age, the amperage of the fish's electric shock increases. The electric eel can live in stagnant, oxygen-deficient waters; its gills are modified into "lung-like" organs, and the electric eel must surface occasionally to gulp air.

Its youve DONE not did. Not trying to be a smart-ass..just trying to help your posts look somewhat literate.
And all eels do have an electric current..just like fish..but not all can use it like a weapon like the Electric eel can.They use it to "feel" other fish and predators in the water around them...thats how they can swim in schools and not run into each other.

thanks for the biology lesson M^t.. i didnt know that, is that just salt water or freshwater too? Right near where i live is the Lamprey river.. ever seen one of those eels? ugly motherfuckers to be sure. Ive caught one fishing before.. almost tried to eat it, but it ended up being used as a weapon  fun camping trip all in all
