Well, i doubt it's gonna repeat the same patterns, since, for example, quake3 was delayed a year because a company bought a license for it at the last minute, and a source code release for something they just paid wouldve been unfair.  That show quake3's power and flexibility.  doom3 OTOH, hasnt been used for anything outside of id's titles except for one title i think.  And Carmack said their next game wasnt gonna take as much time as doom3 did, so it's gonna be released before 2009.  I would even say this year.  Maybe it'll be demoed in this qcon.  Regarding RTCW 2, that game seems more like vaporware.

Wolfenstein 3d was a remake anyway.

RTCW 2 is just a working title, it's supposed to be different when it's released, if it is.
