PC Roached....

Idk,My pc is roached,someone help ! lol.I'm on windows 98 and I can't download anything.Surfing is fast,but when I go to download anything it sits at 500bs/sec then times out.Is it because I'm on win98,or my new ethernet card? Had to get a new card as I don't have a driver disc for the old 1.If I could download at a good speed I would have xp installed.

Don't bother hitting me with buying xp,as it's not sold anymore.I paid about 200 quid buying windows vista home premium,but it wont install for some reason.

Someone burn me a copy of win2k or xp,don't need a key.I can't install windows live mess either hehe.Or someone email with some help please.

Btw Quadz,I'd like it alot if you could block this whois from admins,as I don't see why people need to see my ip address,not saying I'm blaming this on anyone,but still if you could consider it.

Should be a fixable problem..

Run a virus scan.

Check if your hard drive is full, empty your browser cache

Reboot

Run Adware, Spybot, rootkit revealer, etc.., download them from another machine if needed.

Are you directly connected to the internet?  Could it be a network misconfiguration, I assume not since you are posting here.

Did you recently download anything?  Such as WebEnhancer or some other kind of download accelerator?

Thanks,I got everything working now,just takes ages finding drivers and that when using windows 98  I went out and bought a new ethernet card thinking that win 98 wouldn't have the drivers for the card I use,though what I bought was an ethernet network card,so think thats why I couldn't download of the net.Old ethernet works now and spent hours and hours finding downloads and drivers for win 98.Teaches me to have proper backup in the future .

Almost have xp downloaded,must get a cdrw drive soon,this is my 3rd.They break easy?

Also when I go to install vista,after 50% it says cannot whatever error,I don't understand,must read up.

I wonder how many trojans and virus are in the copy of xp you are downloading.  a few, minimum.

And maybe that's what you do monsta if your pc breaks down,but I can fix them,which I did.So why buy a new pc when It is fixed now.
As I said before,I just never had windows backed up,and was careless with cd's I had after a long run without problems.
That will teach me a lesson though,no new pc needed,no money wasted,all is fine.

Umm? You don't know shit about me so don't assume if my computer craps out then I just junk it for a new one. I build all my computers and maintain them so they don't break down. My profession is being a system administrator so yeah I know a thing or two about computers.

I suggested you get a new computer because your computer is fucking OLD, real OLD. Stop being some cheapskate and running a computer from 1997...
