OpenGL renderer
«

Haven't played this in like 10 years and was wondering what the standard is as far as patches etc. I noticed a few patches available past Id's official 3.20, as well as newer OpenGL renderers etc. Example:
http://www.r1ch.net/stuff/r1q2/
or
http://www.markshan.com/thesinraven/quake_II_v.3.21.htm
Just wondering what the best way to go is as far as patch and GL renderer nowadays.
Thanks

use the r1gl.dll renderer that you found at R1CH's site as it has many fixes and is more bugfix friendly.
the 3.20 client is the last one you'll need, so if you're patched to that point, you're good.
I recommend using the r1q2.exe client that you can get in the same place as the r1gl.dll renderer above.
It is very much like regular q2 3.20 but with many improvements in security, stability and netcode.
you will want to disable mouse acceleration and asynchronous fps in your config if you use r1q2 tho.
put these in your config file to set these features so that it feels like v3.20:
(with cl_async set to "1" by default, you will have slightly inferior jumping abilities)
set cl_async '0'
(m_directinput "1" sets your q2 to use directinput from the mouse, and it will generally stop any of the winxp acceleration that makes your aim inconsistent at speed)
set m_directinput '1'
hope that helps a bit.

I don't worship the devil. Jesus is Lord, friend. He died for your sins. He will forgive you if you just ask.
