I am using an intilli mouse, leftbutton, rightbutton, mouse wheel up and down, mouse button will click or push, how ever you would call it. I have tried to bind mouse wheel button bind for jump, Bind mouse3 "+moveup", I tried bind Mwheelbutton "+moveup", nothing works. The button works outside of quake in windows, and my mousewheel up and down work in quake but not the push button part of the wheel. Help?????

The mouse button is normally registered as mouse3, yes, so that should be working fine.

maybe that specific mouse doesn't use the middle button? Maybe software needs to be installed too, so the middle button will be regonized.

I've used the middle mouse button for jumping since the game came out. This started with the early basic 3 "tab" mice until the middle tab changed to a scroll wheel. Its awkward to push a scroll wheel to jump but no choice really after all this time.
I've used this line in my config.cfg to bind that button. I also bind the turning of the wheel to jump in case I rotate it during the game. I also repeat these commands in my autoexec.cfg:
bind MOUSE3 "+moveup"
bind MWHEELDOWN "+moveup"
bind MWHEELUP "+moveup"
It's never failed me. However your mouse software has to enable the middle button as either mouse3 or scroll button. Since there are so many other functions you can bind buttons to, it may think its not there.
I remember that the Intellimouse has its own set of very specific software that can conflict with games.

might need a driver... does it work in windows? by default it should bring up that scrolling tooling with two arrows... if it works in windows try binding it old school in quake2... press f4 in game and try to bind a key to it, should tell you what it is that way.

As I recall from my limited experience with Intellimouse drivers, it tends to be a bit of a pain to make the middle button actually act like a middle button - as if MS were trying to get rid of it entirely. You might try changing the driver to one more generic, although I'm not sure if that's possible with USB on Windows... just a thought, anyway.

do what jager suggested to test the button outside of the game.
if it works, remove the intellimouse software.
IMO it's useless.
I use the MS optical wheelmouse exclusively on my work and home comps and I won't buy anything but them to replace those around the office when my IT duties call.

I assume yours is very similar.
They come with that software cd, and they work perfectly on a windows xp system without the software installed.
just plug and play and it will use the generic driver.
go to control panel>add/remove software, and wipe it out if you have it installed.
restart the computer and hopefully you'll be workin fine.

I use a 4-button optical logitech with the mouseware software. Like Recycled said, I have my "3rd" button assigned to middle button, which is bound to mouse3. I can assign either the wheel or thumb buttons to middle button, doesn't matter. Either will work.
If all else fails, mouseware might work for you. It can be downloaded from logitech.

Make sure you're using R1Q2 or another modern engine that supports better mouse input (eg m_directinput) and more buttons.
