I downloaded and played spogsp (http://www.viceman.us/3DGamersEdge/spq2lvlrevs/spog.html), classic!
Spogsp is good if you can survive the first 3 minutes. Its brutal. Other people will know it as the "Hub" map. Its the first of a series of maps.
Yes, I still play single play. Or Co-op if anyone's around. I've downloaded a few of the old ones like Back at the Front, Satyr and 1492. For sheer volume of kills, "1492" has literally thousands. I think there's around 7 levels (haven't finished it yet). But this screenshot gives you an idea of the insanity of it. Check the number of kills you have ahead of you. What happens is you find your button somewhere, press it and a wall opens and here comes 20 guys at you. The game has crashed 3 times because its just too much for Quake to handle I guess.
There is some things amatuers can do that a paid pro cannot:experiment and explore with a set of resources without the fear of real deadlines. Unfortunately, the majority of games the Q3 engine was used on were a dozen bad World war Two games...all more or less alike. The Quake 1 single player scene is still going on,and I guess Half Life 2 is too....too bad modern games are so complex todeal with now...
