It's such an idiotic idea to just move 90% of the players to a different server because people can't use their real name.  Not to mention tounrey4 is the best server for pings for the majority.  Why should the people causing team balancing issues get to stay, and everyone else be expected to move to a shitty server?  Should change tdm-noalias to tdm-aliasonly.  TBH, I'm not really sure why all these non-tdm players have so much input into a mod they don't even play.

First off, it's a vote kick, 50% of more is required.  Also, the reason people don't want an alias there is for the exact opposite reason, they want an even game, not stacked teams.

every single reason that's been given here for kicking so-called "aliased" players without caring who they are and why they are there, boils down to one of these:

"Even though I profess to be great and have played this game for X number of years, I don't know who they are, and I don't have the advantage of knowing how they play before deciding to join a team. that's so unfair!!"

"I dont ping 20 in texas against opponents who ping 50 there! I don't care if this would solve my whole issue with aliased players, this is so unfair!!!"

BTW, nobody is buying the "fair teams" line of bullshit.
Just go look at any of Krez's little "Ely sux at tdm" screenshots for evidence of this NOT happening at all.

You guys stack teams left and right with good tdm players all on one team, and everyone else you don't like or know on the other, in order to prop yourselves up and never lose a pickup, as if they really mean so much to anyone.

-  Again, team balancing.  This comes more into play when the games are 3v3 or 4v4.  I checked out the screenshots in that thread and saw a 52-51 game, and then 2 games of ass raping 2v2.  This isn't dm, you actually have to type ready to start the game - which means all players have agreed to the teams, no one in those screenshots were aliased.  If they had of split up the teams it would have been more even, but they didn't.  Does that mean every game is unbalanced and all tdm players want to do is win at any cost? No.  ah! and bzx are probably friends that like playing together, and knowing ah! i guarantee he would have split up teams had Elysium asked for it.

I don't think anyone in q2tdm would cry about a 50 ping except B100D, and his opinions (which could loosely be called actual thoughts) have any weight on what anyone should think.  For the most part, people want good pings, not so much even, but with internet connections today those tend to go hand in hand.  Anything sub 60 I can't see anyone complaining about.  Krez pings around 100 to a couple of the tourney servers, I think tourney4 is the only one he doesn't ping bad to.  Having even pings isn't the issue, it's about having a good ping that's fun to play with.

I guess it's pretty impressive you've managed to stereotype a whole community based on one or two players, and one or two situations.

First off:
they wont cry about a 50+ ping because they refuse to connect to servers where they ping that way unless they have no choice. (see above where they refuse to use tdm-noalias under the bullshit excuse that nobody plays there)

If t4 was in texas like the others, they'd be crying foul.

A few months back krez was even making a stink on this very forum about how his ping had gone up a measly 10 ms and he demanded action to fix it.

the 50 something to 50 something game in that thread was posted by panjoo, not krez, and you should also note that the players leading those teams are two of the better sportsmen that the tdm scene has to offer.

randy and naym don't need to stack their teams to win or to enjoy themselves.
neither do you, but you can't expect everyone else to treat the rest of the tdm payers who do, like they are good people based on the 5 or so players who actually are.

I think it's pretty hilarious that you'd try to imply that this particular stereotype was a new thing that I created, and that I only know of 2 tdm players which I base it on.

You can thank the buttload of poor sports who play tdm for the way people see that end of the community.

Anyways, aside from what you guys are accusing krez of, kicking aliases by principle is justified in most cases, so I'll continue to do it in situations that I feel it's proper.

Kicking aliases is indeed right the majority of the time (It still has to be a vote where 50+% of the players are in favor. Democracy :>). Most of the time they get to play anyway because there is not an abundance of regular player names in the server to replace them. Kicking usually is only considered is when 'oldscore' reveals a non-tdmer like score of 1-23 for instance (new player that completely imbalances the team), or there are normal player nicknames in observer ready and willing to play. If the latter is the case, that player can simply unalias to have a better chance of playing. Any tdmer who aliases knows they are risking their ability to play, so the choice is theirs.

Keep in mind it's usually easy to tell if someone is just new or hiding their identity, and new players tend to just go to the better team to make the game more competitive overall.

In the past unbalanced teams was an issue, as also were cheaters and shit talkers who brag about winning against an opponent who may not have been trying to win as hard as they normally would having known the identity. With the community much smaller and active admins to protect against cheaters, the issue is primarily balanced teams.

The only people using aliases are other 1v1 guys or TDM'rs.  Let them police themselves.
