welcome! your all about to embark on a q2 experience that will change your lives lol! Kots2007 is a mod where you create a character (by name) example you join the server and make your name hi then you must set your password that will log you in forever kots_pass password after this is done simply hit tab and create your character!!!! in kots2007 you gain experience for kills! wich then levels you up! when you level you get to add a weapon and player point, you can use any q2 weapon and add it up to 6 wich is the max. for player points you get stuff like wisdom karma tech spirit they all do different things http://ihasacrayon.net/kots/ranks.php?u=EMU go to this link and look at players and weapons, also powers wich u get to pick 1 every 3 levels, cool stuff. this mod is very fun but many people do not know about this hidden gem, vanilla and dm have many people on all day, why not step up your q2 addiction and start to gain for all your play time, also on that site there is ranks where you can see your characters stats, no1 is really high level so now is the time to jump in and start competeting to become King Of The Server! Heh, I thought I saw something about this earlier...While I'm here, I guess I'll talk about a mod I used to play called Giex. You get to mash monsters as well as other players! You get experience for hits instead of kills, which is quite necessary when the stronger players/monsters have a ton of health and/or defense.

You get to pick classes as well, from a soldier, tank, cleric or mage. Soldiers get to use lots of weapons, tanks get to show their superiority with strong armor, clerics can protect/heal everyone (or the team in TDM) in range with aura spells, and mages get to fling damaging magical spells everywhere. Luckily, if you think you'll be restricted by your class, you have the option to multi-class! Yup, you can mix and match to find the best fit for your play style. And about the items, each item has a different number of slots with which different rune powerups can be 'plugged' into. For example, weapons can accept weapon damage and armor piercing runes. Staff weapons can take magic damage runes. There's lots of flexibility when it comes to developing your character.

But I guess Giex is more player vs monsters than player vs player from what I've seen. KotS = PvP, Giex = PvM, although both mods have a form of PvP and PvM. So there!

i don't know who posted this but as admin of both the american servers and one of the devs, this wasn't an official post.

we don't encourage spamming on other forums, but I do encourage you all to give it a shot.  for those saying its a "noob" mod, it may not be a mod that directly tests skill, but its something different; quake2 with the RPG element in it.

No mods are looked down on by most q2 players.  Some people feel it necessary to voice opinions rarely asked for, but they are more interested in fanning flames then actual discussion, so pay no attention to the trolls.
