i see stuff like this all the time.  Yahoo, google, e-bay, amazon, my bank (well, NOT my bank, they just say they are), paypal, etc. all wanting confirmation. 

99% of the time when you hover your mouse over the link you'll see it's not a legit address.  If you think it's real, don't use any links/e-mails/phone #'s they give you, use the ones you KNOW work (support link on webiste, the CC/Bank # you have on your CC/bank statement).

E-mail I sent out on 11/2005. This type of scam wasn't new then either. Good news is that from what I understand they caught the original guys doing the ebay version.

"while I'm on the subject of Spoofing, there have been a lot of spoofed
e-mails from the accounts department at e-bay claiming that your account has
been deleted. Not only should you delete all of these e-mails, you should
forward them to spoof@ebay.com who will examine them to tell your their
validity and report all spoof e-mails to the authorities. This is actually a
wonderful service and I wish they'd expand it to report all spoof e-mails to
the authorities, not just ones claiming to be from e-bay. But simply put
e-bay will never ever e-mail your personal e-mail, but rather give you
messages in your account pages on ebay.com. So bottom line, if you get an
e-mail in your private or work e-mail addresses claiming to be from e-bay,
forward it to spoof@ebay.com"

Hehe, yeah, I get emails from time to time claiming to be from ebay wanting me to update my paypal info. I MIGHT take the bait.... but I've never used ebay OR paypal.
