Let's e-jam, e-dammit!

I got an idea that might be kinda fun. I'd like to get together with another guitarist and songwriter over the internet for some song collaboration for fun. Just one or two songs maybe. Preferably metal, I'm not too into other stuff. You can hear some of what I've recorded in the past on my website which is in my signiture below my posts. I manually create my own drum tracks with single shot drum samples using ACID Music 2.0 which is your typical loop based music creation software. It uses WAV files. In those particular songs, all I used was a kick drum and a snare, but recently I've found some decent sounding tom drums to add to the "virtual drum kit" to make it sound much more human and real. To make this work, we'll both have to have some kind of recording software like that, I can't really use low-quality wav file guitar or bass tracks that aren't in a completely steady dead-on tempo, otherwise the end result will sound pretty sloppy. You'd have to record any live guitar or bass tracks with some sort of removable click track or backing drums to keep the tempo properly. If we use the drums YOU come up with, then you can keep any tracks all mixed into one WAV file and send it to me to add whatever I'll be contributing to the song on my end. I just thought that some long-distance jamming and collaboration might be fun, interesting, and an all around useful learning experience. e band collaborations will soon be the next big thing on the net. I'm surprised it hasn't caught on before now. It would be a challenge to coordinate, but the possibilities are endless. If you hit on something the corporate kings adore you could even become "rich".   

This is actually a good idea. I imagine you would have to have the same software to sync everyone's part, but I dunno. The closest thing to "metal" I've ever played is Enter Sandman and whatever that next song is. So I'm not much help. Deep Purple's - Perfect Strangers - is metallish and fairly easy to play.

But an interesting idea none the less.
