Slikk, that LCD issue is exactly why I haven't purchased one.

Thanks for the gameplay compliment although I feel my play is not that good anymore. Maybe it's because AJ, Quest, and the like are ingame when I'm there. Also I think I'm hampered from using the thumb button on my mouse to jump, as in affecting my aim. I really should change that but you know what they say about old dogs. Guess I'll just have to start enjoying the game more and not worry about frags.

Oh yeah I forgot to add that I've always used cl_maxfps "35" or less. Anything more messes up my run/strafe/jump combo. Why? I don't know.

Slikk - OMG - Only weenies use a monitor of _any_ sort. I don't bother using a monitor. It's for those "weak" players who padcamp & grenadespam and the like. I've been told that getting a monitor connected to my computer box would make me a bit better at quake, but I figured "why fix what isn't broken?".

Recently I purchased the Lord of the Rings trilogy DVDs. I've been totally having fun with them. My buddy insists that I should also get a "dvd player" as he calls it and one of those TV thingees, but I'm short on money right now. I'm still having fun.

Art, I'd love to run at cl_maxfps < 60, but anything other than exactly cl_maxfps 60 (the rate the monitor is locked at) yields weird choppy video.

I always ran at less than 60 with my CRT on Xquake because I got better performance. Unfortunately, not the case anymore.

And, before anyone asks, my Dad is now the proud owner of my formerly used CRT.

I miss the days when I could actually compete in this game. Now, while tweaking this and that, I usually find myself finishing in the middle of the pack, behind people I never dreamed I'd be following. Technology Sucks!, lol...

hello, my name is MAGiCaL PiG!
I have been around with various alias'(not gonna tell ya- ya gotta figger this one out fer yerselves) for 3+ years now- on and off...
from the despicable bot infested years to the present....

I was a self confessing spawn camper for a whille but have dropped that mode of play, most of the time anyway

I just wanted to say hello, and to commend you admins on finally seeing the light and adding some new maps to the rotation. not to mention getting rid of the cheaters...I remember the days of just hopping on the server to watch the utter hilarity of the speed and aim cheats combined- it got old fast but was still kinda entertaining

there was nothing better than to verbally abuse the mental midget cheater people...it was so easy to see them get totally bent out of shape...well one in particular

ah well....

edit> Oh yeah, I play with an LCD monitor and no problems whatsoever...I know it's not as fast as a CRT but hell the game is seven years old now...

re: LCD...oddly enough, I tried something totally different last night having nothing to do with the LCD, and I had much better gameplay.

I'm not ready to totally sign off on this being my saving grace; will try again today, but I may be victim of misplaced cause and effect, compounded by coincidence of timing. More later...
