Led Zeppelin rocks for one night

They had this concert scheduled for some time but I never even heard about it. It was a tribute concert for Ahmet Ertegun (Atlantic Records) who recently died and had signed them in 1969. They had rehearsed for this one and had Jason Bonham on drums. No one was sure if they could pull it off. Anyway they did a 2 hour set and were absolutely amazing. They are all somewhere around 60 plus in age. Plants vocals were lower but confident. Page was on fire, Jones was rock-solid as usual and Bonham uncannily knows every beat and nuance of his fathers material. There were 2 million people trying to get an available 18,000 tickets. Reading some of the reviews gives you goosebumps. This is Rolling Stone's:

  They didn't do my fav song, "Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You,"  but yeah that will be one highly anticipated dvd. I bet Plant sounded great.

Their body of work is so huge that it was difficult picking 16 songs. And Plant is over 60 so its impossible for him to do "Immigrant Song" for example. But apparently they were just majestic. No tour because Plant is commited to his tour with Alison Krauss in 2008. They could easily sell out a concert at $500 a pop anywhere in half an hour. And I saw them in 1970 for 5 bucks at the O'Keefe Center in Toronto. Time flies....

i listened most of the songs from their recent show. zeppelin is 1 of the greatest, plant's getting a little old though and so is his voice. Sounds like they tuned everything a step and a half down so the guitar would match the vocals better.

Oh they definitely still sound great and have tremendous talent for sure. I just looked it up. Turns out it wasn't how I said, it's only a step lower, but they did it to match his vocals like i thought.
