Hi, are UK connections banned from your servers? I managed to play RA2 last week but ever since every time I try connect - says connection refused..

Hi, nope UK connections are definitely not blocked.

My first suggestion would be to make sure your name is something other than "Player", and that your skin is set to something reasonable, like "male/grunt", and see if you are now able to connect.

If not, let me know and we'll troubleshoot further...

et:qw has an issue with ISP's (mostly EU ones from the ET:QW forums) blocking et:qw connections.  could be extended to Q2 too.  The ISP's claim it's bittorrent or something & BT is bad.  normally a call to the ISP fixed that (by splashdammage)

I'm in UK and I'm not banned,but a year odd ago I couldn't connect to tourney4 or jump mod,east coast servers I think.That was for about 6 months,give or take.Think the problem fixed itself,not sure.

Actually in some countries it is. For example, part of Return to Castle Wolfenstein is illegal to view in Germany. How this is legally possible is beyond me. In fact this very reason is why activision replaced all nazi's with rats and crap in the supernintendo version of the original game. Because of fear of European countries banning the game.

(P.S. the content laws in Germany are probably not enforcable, but exist enough that Activision had to include a disclaimer on the official website)

you're in a socialist country.  one of the "benefits" of living there.  Don't worry, the US will be there soon enough.    But even if you owned your own dedicated line you'll have to filter content yourself if the govt. said so.

in Germany ANYTHING nazi related is illegal.  That's why it can't be in the game.   Unless it's part of a history lesson, it's  ed.  The US is one of the most liberal countries in relation to censoring content.  You'll notice there's lots & lots of trials, press, media, etc. but no banning outright.  Not like other countries.  In fact, I think the US is the only major modern country to NOT have a govt. ban on any media.  At worst it's been a ban by businesses.

i'd check with your ISP. Try pinging other US quake servers.  Could be a block (or a temp-block) on a range of IP's or something.

Thanks mate, I didnt realise my name went back to Player and that Player was auto refusal. Its working now.

Umm... See the first amendment? 

trust me, people are already trying to find way to say THAT should be illegal for the "safety" if the general public.  If they can convince the general public they're right, it WILL happen.

i'm happy to say, Canada isn't worth taking over.  Happy because it's such a beautiful place, I'd hate to see what the US would do to it.    canucks!
