I really don't know the exact rules of the server BUT I'm gonna guess bs talking someone extremely harsh isn't exactly rule biding.  I normally don't take insults personally...  Most of the time I find them fun and actually get a more enjoyable gaming experience when I can kick the dude's butt that's bs talking me.  Jquestt was on earlier when this one guy named ColdFlo was on just throwing every insult he could ponder up at ME.  No one else, just me.  I at once recognized him from about 6 months ago and I can't remember for the life of me what other aliases he went by.  He used to come onto the server with a different name every other night and just trash talk me.  Annoying, but ignorable.

Now, as some peeps know, my girlfriend is now playing quake.  I'm happy she's so focused on killing others that she doesn't read the comments he was putting up against me and her.  I attempted to condump what he said but I remembered way too late and didn't get the comments in the log.  But he was getting way too personal for my comfort.  I told him repeatedly to keep it between me and him but he still decided to throw comment towards my gf.  I dunno if everyone on here has a gf, but I'm sure you do, you know where I'm coming from.  Somethings that I recall him saying I would never consider repeating.

Well...  I'm done ranting...  If there is ANYTHING that can be done about this...  (insert bad name here)...  please, by all means, do so.  Kinda reminds me of sicker...  but sicker.  :p  This guy is hell bent on destroying my name for some unknown reason.  If I find his alternate names, I'll ask and see if they are the same peeps that I think he is.

I didn't see the dude you're referring to, but unfortunately I could see this coming.  Not because of you, personally.  But because your GF uses the nic CozsGirl (or similar), it's an inviting target to the idiots who would try to get to you by talking personal trash to/about her.

It shouldn't have to be the case, but I think you might want her to change her nic to something less obvious.  No one else needs to know who she is, and you always will, no matter what her nic is.

Ive seen alot of trash talking in the past but thats part of the game. I get craped talked to me all the time. But i just ignore any talk in the game i just play and thats it

She's working on a new nick.  :wink:  She doesn't have a clue what she wants as her name.  So till then, she's using that nick.  She's the same as you applejacks, she didn't see a thing said towards her.  Of course, I told her not to too since we were on the phone talking as we were playing.  I would know if she did read it cause she would've said something and I would be able to tell by the sound of her voice.  Oh well...  I got to talk to console while he was on after that event to see what could be done.  All I know is from now on when he's on, I'm focusing on him to make his gameplay miserable.   :wink:

Hey I wanna help too! Coldflo? Ok got it! Also just for something to think about... There is an alternative q2 client ppl used to use as anti - cheat client untill it was hacked. Q2ace is its name I believe. I dont trust its anti - cheat stuff but it has a neat feature on it called "ignore" you can used this to block the text from other players in game. I'll look at it some more before I recommend you use it just yet, but it is something to think about...ill look into it for ya.

On a side note.. if you add the following line to the quake2 shortcut "+set logfile 3" it will create a continuos logfile of all the text on your screen from start to quit. This way you can capture anything said in game. The file it creates is in the baseq2 folder called qconsole.log. As long as you set logfile to "3" it will continue to append it to the logfile without deleting the older text, so you will want to clear it out on a regular basis to keep it from getting huge.

Like i said ill look into the q2ace and get back to ya. I hope this helps

We reviewed the logs and... yeah ColdFlo was being an ass.  Won't bother to post it here. Coldflo has spammed some unfathomably ignorant racist binds to the server as well, and has been warned about that.

I think the suggestion that your gf choose a nickname that isn't tracable to you makes sense.  Nice thing about q2 is she can try a new nick every day if she wants until she finds one she likes.

Notice how sicker is gleefully attempting to stir up trouble.  But check out his logic.  First you ask if the server is laggy to anyone.  'sicker' tells you "always"..... Then later he tries to suggest YOU have lag because for some special reason.
