Personally, I don't get the purpose of any of this. He said... she said... who gives a shit. If I were the moderator of these forums, there would be zero tolerance for this kind of pointless childish squabling,... no matter WHAT CLAN you're a member of. If people feel that it's necessary to do this kind of thing in an attempt to have a popularity contest by way of social disagreements,... then do the easiest thing: make a poll and take a vote, "Who likes/hates me?" It saves us all the guesswork!

Not sure precisely what you're referring to, but if you mean the purpose of the EoM -> SPaM logo, it was just a "sence of haha" way to communicate to Vibes that he was nuking the shoutbox too often.  (I'd already tried asking nicely, a temp ban, a temp mute, ....etc.)

I get that, I suppose it was warranted. He said he posted the logo ONCE in the shoutbox. If it was only once, I don't exactly see what the point was in banning him from the shoutbox temporarily since other people are allowed to post anything of unimportance whenever they get the urge.

And you seem to be correct. It's all just a game, I don't see the point in getting so worked up about things. If someone is acting like a complete asshole, it's reasonable to expect to be called an asshole. But this is the internet. We're hundreds of miles apart from each other, we're just words on a screen. If a person has a legitimate justified gripe about someone, they should keep it personal rather than broadcasting it in open territory, which is nothing more than an obvious stroking of their own ego by way of a social circle jerk. It's most likely NOT going to resolve anything. However, if it's kept to a person to person conversation, no one's ego or social status will be bruised, and there's more room for each person to be heard and understood. That's just my philosophy.

Not quite anything.  It has long been known to Vibes that posting large pictures in the shoutbox--even if the image technically fits--is discouraged.  I asked him a long time ago to please try to keep them small, as when the shoutbox gets clogged with lots of pictures it makes it harder for folks with low-resolution monitors to browse the forums.

Posting OVERSIZE pictures that break the formatting are just going to be deleted.  Vibes started posting that oversize "nuke" picture in the shoutbox a month or two ago.  When I saw it, I thought "ha ha", then I deleted it.  Then he posted it again.  Then I deleted it again.  This went on repeatedly--to the point where I felt my time was being wasted and I temp-banned him from the forums.  (I didn't realize a shoutbox mute was available at the time.)

I've regarded his recent behavior with a certain amount of curiosity... tempered by irritation.

When he says things like this:

...it's almost as if he believes he's acting like a retard on purpose.


As far as the changes to his logo (which are temporary), I found the events leading up to that a little peculiar.

1. He was muted in the shoutbox, primarily for the annoying way he will repost another "nuke" right after I've deleted the previous one...

2. Then he throws a tantrum on the forums (which may just be his weird style of flame-baiting...)

3. Then he privately sends me his full-size logo, asks if I will resize it and put it in the Hosted clan sites & friends banner.  Which I do, and in reply I tell him he's unmuted from the shoutbox, but please take it easy with the shoutbox nukes.

4. He immediately starts nuking it again, both with the 'bomb' picture, and also with his oversize logo.

5. I ignored the first couple, but on the third one I admonish him to, "Stop nuking the shoutbox, nut paste."

6. He responds with his usual gibberish culminating in accusing me of having "no sence of haha".

I figured I could respond in three ways:

a. Just ignore him

b. Mute him again

c. Counter with a "haha" of my own


I don't really like a., because the "nukes" are a little too frequent for my taste.  So I went with "c."

But I'm not sure I view this as a "forum war" ... it feels to me more akin to dealing with someone on the servers who is spamming to much.  And we've already been through the warning stages, the mute stages, the temp ban stage, more mutes, ... what's next?
