32mb Ati Rage AGP Issues

Main issue being, when I remove my PC and set in the AGP, all I get are 5 loud beeps and a black screen. The card isnt too high tech, I meet all the requirements, my AGP aperture is set to 64mb, cards a 32mb ATI Rage, says AT1 128 PRO/ULTRA. Any help greatly appreciated.

have you removed the drivers from the previous video card?

not doing this prior to removing and changing your vid card can cause conflicts and judging by your computers response, it's having one.

BTW, you might want to throw about 50 bucks at a geforce fx5200 agp or better.
I've used a ATI Rage pro 128 before and it had problems displaying things in q2, in opengl at 800x600 fullscreen..
it would show little black lines on the edge of the hud graphics that should not have been there, and it screwed up the conchars a bit too.

performance was reasonable tho, for such an old card, but it had no options for antialiasing and such..

Your cell phone probly has more ram, mhz, and hd space than my rig.

Been doing some r&d, the beep code says my video card is fucked up, replace and re install, and I did, same thing happened. So, it "could" be the card, just like it "could" be the port. Blows. And this is the best card I could grab that my system wouldn't have a heart attack trying to use.

Getting a ASUS P4P800 Mainboard i865PE Chipset for free from a bud with a power supple, leaving me in need of a case, video card, other small things. Just gotta wait...and I really hate waiting.

So yeah, screwed. Was gonna get an Nvidia 5700 Fx, but that would have killed my PC. (I know the 8800 is out, I'm just having a slight crisis money wise)

Are you putting in an AGP card in a pc that was running onboard video prior to the the new card installation?
If so you may have to disable the onboard video in your bios. Some mobos require that, some dont.

make sure the MB supports the transfer rate of the card.  IE my old AMD 64+AGP MB would only support 4x/8x AGP cards.  Wouldn't run 1 or 2x.  If you're putting a 1x card in a system that doesn't support it that could give you issues.

Anyway, if your pc will not post and gives beeps, there is a hardware failure somewhere. You say you are replacing your PC(I) card with an AGP card?

If this is the case then the AGP card is bad or your agp slot is bad, most probably the card.

32mb Ati Rage! I bet if you look around on the web, there are plenty of people who can give you a better card for free.
