After my mobo fried I upgraded to a quad-core CPU, but kept the same video card as before (geforce 7800).Q2 ran horribly, sometimes it was smooth for a bit, but inexplicably it would bog down with lag. (Even playing on localhost, but it was worse connected to a remote server.)I found a setting in the nvidia control panel that fixed it. It was the "Threaded optimization" setting, which it describes as:"Allows applications to take advantage of multiple CPUs. Most newer applications should benefit from the Auto-select or On settings. This setting should be turned off for most older applications."I turned it Off and Q2 runs fine now. (One nice thing is their control panel lets you override settings for particular program .exe files. So I just turned it off for r1q2.exe and quake2.exe, and left it "Auto" for the rest of the system.)Regards, quadz
