It says "tasty spleen & friends" under the server listing.

what's it take to get a server listed there?

Currently that script gets the server list from the database of servers in the 'GOTO' network.

So there are two possibilities:

1. me change the code to allow listing non-GOTO servers as well

2. put your server into the GOTO network (means you'll have to run q2admin)

(Oh, forgot to mention... either way your server needs to have a static IP...)

i've looked in to q2admin. looks like something I place ontop of an existing r1q2 install, correct? the server would have a static IP so that's not an issue.

played with q2admin. so q2admin sends your server ip to a master server that you guys use? It looks like it send a hearbeat to a non-id master server.

Actually, q2admin is mostly just a pain in the ass. But, it provides a couple features needed by our scripts. Particularly say_person in the case of our GOTO script.

Did I ever mention that my server has Q2 Admin running on it? It has been about 2 months now but I've been too lazy to bring it up.

Currently runnin MegaQ2 while I develop it but normal Mod of the Week functionality will be restored soon.

Is that a static IP?

If so, given a static IP and q2admin, your server could be added to the GOTO network.

I don't pay for it to be static, however in over 5 years of experience with my ISP my IP has never changed.

Will it make a difference other than obviouslly if it changes the pings will come back unanswered.

It's the maintenance on my end. I don't want to have to update my server database every month or week or whatever when someone's IP changes.

Anyway - I'll PM you with more info about finishing the configuration.

No offense, but servers running off cable / DSL connections tend not to be very reliable and latency is higher than it should be due to local loop / CATV overhead.

How would I go about setting up a simplified goto on my server so that the people can get back out? Basicaly it just shoot them back to Vanilla.

I'd probably be able to figure out something similar on my own, however I'm not sure how to get q2admin to listen for player chats.

can't seem to get q2admin working on my remote linux server. newest version need something called "libcurl" & am having a hard time getting that. It's not included in the q2server.zip file. The link q2admin.net sends me to gets me some info on it but it looks like it needs to be installed in linux (not just copied to the q2 folder like the win32 version), which I can't do because I'm not at the server. I can just put stuff in my game folder (and subfolders).

it's now one of the tabs that auto-opens when I load firefox.
