Hannibal Lector, good or bad?

I watched the four Silenece of the Lamb movies in a row, so I've been thinking about Hannibal for some time now.

have you seen all the movies, he only kills bad people, or people that try and send him to kill him.

Define good / bad for me. 

From my perspective, he's good.

actually Ive read all of the novels behind the movies.

the author repeatedly portrays Hannibal as a killer of "the rude"..
he generally doesn't kill people just for giggles, only if he's a bit peckish or has a secondary motive of some sort, AND they've slighted him.

From the stories, I think he's a good guy, with a seriously disturbing life, who doesn't value EVERY human life.
only those that prove themselves to be better than animals.

Just wanted the Hannibal Rising one with my gf the other night. He's fucked up and dats all I gots to say bout dat.

yeah, he's got some issues, but he kills some pretty fucked up people in that movie, and despite all that becomes a doctor.  I love Hannibal (returns?), where he eats the guy's brain in front of him, while he's alive.

Well in the new one (Rising) the people he kills were only trying to stay alive themselves? "She was going to die anyhow..." He didn't want to kill them because they were bad people, he just wanted revenge. I don't think it justifies how he acts.  Hell, he even had a taste of her himself.
