What's up with texting in general. You have a phone in your hand, call the person.

Rule of Thumb

Texting is ok if it confines to a single short question with a really short answer. If either party needs to text a 3rd time, then call.

texting comes in handy when you can't make the phone call.  But seeing how the topic is on driving, no texting while driving is retarded. 

No. Texting is for women. If you are in a situation where you can't answer or make a call then it can wait. Seeing in how texting was brought up, I figured I would throw my 2 cents in on the subject. Perhaps I should create an entire new topic regarding it.

i hate phone calls, and ever since texting came out, for 90 percent of my communication i use email or text, i love it!

1) i don't have to be distracted from whatever else i'm doing to communicate with someone
2) i can communicate at my own pace
3) it's fast and effective

yeah there's some conversations or situations where you need to talk in person, or on the phone, but that's pretty rare, at least for me.

the only time I ever used texting was when i was losing my signal and had to redial over and over, wasting mins.
texting is good because you only need 1 second of a signal to send your msg and you can say all you need to.

i wouldnt be against a tiered licensing system like europe for motorcycles.

The whole issue of driving comes down to the fact that you are PILOTING a vehicle.  It isnt a right, and it should always be given 100% of your focus.  At any given time, it is obvious that 50% of the drivers around you are giving maybe 50% of thier attention to what they are doing.

Whining about it wont fix it.  Cops cant do enough to enforce good driving.  There aren't even close to enough to accomplish that.  Changed laws would be a path, but not real likely.  Better schooling would sure help.  I'd prefer that to more laws.
