Howdy!

OSP tourney has been a problem for us, because it's closed source, and thus there is no practical way for us to fix bugs in the mod.

R1CH has been working hard at an open source replacement tourney mod, OpenTDM!

I am very grateful for R1CH's efforts, and the goal is to add the important features of OSP tourney into OpenTDM so that we can switch all the tourney servers over and get rid of the dead-end OSP mod.

The question is: Are we there yet?

If you feel there are important OSP tourney features that do not yet exist in the latest OpenTDM, please be specific and let us know, so these features can be added to the TO-DO list!

open tdm kicked me like 3 times in the 30 mins I tried to play on it, 1 of them was during a league (nadl) match, I can't tell you how frustrating it is trying to hold my own vs damiah alone and then it kicks me in the middle of the match

plz just leave the servers osp, or at least just make a couple of the servers otdm

Thanks for the feedback. This is the sort of stuff we need to hear about. The important thing to remember is that problems with OpenTDM can be fixed, unlike OSP. There should eventually be no reason to need OSP anymore.

Did it give any explanation when you were kicked? Or did you just get dropped?

opentdm all the way; the bugs and bitching will only be temporary. Having it on all servers will just speed up the process.

said my fps was too high I think, tried dropping it, still kicked me, dropped it down to 90 and it didnt kick me but I couldnt play with it that low so I brought it back up to 100, worked for about 20 mins and then kicked me again mid game

I honestly don't see what so bad about osp that you need to make a new mod

The FPS kick thing was an R1Q2 setting carried over from my own server.cfg when I initially set it up. I removed it from tourney2 (well, set it to 250 FPS, beyond which is going into DoS-the-server territory), but tourney4 will need the Special Touch. Q2 3.20 internally caps at 100 PPS, so any higher is going beyond what I would consider "reasonable", but 250 it is...

Guys, you heard of TDM mod ?

Seems to be discontinued, but I think it is way better than OSP.

Haven't try openTDM yet sorry.

Some examples:

- OSP crashes on perfectly good maps. (For example, I get requests to add q2campgrnds.bsp to the tourney servers, and I've tried, but OSP crashes instantly. It crashes with numerous custom maps.)

- Team-join bug. Possible to join locked teams, causing admin headaches when people abuse it and have to be dealt with.

- Suicides missing from server logs. OSP for some dumb reason doesn't write suicides to the server logs, which screws up my ability to collect frag stats.

If OSP were open source, we could just fix this stuff. It's not, so . . . . . . .

We used tdm back in 04-05 for about a years time. EP coded it, if it's the same 'tdm' mod that we're talking about. I totally forgot about it until I played a few games in eu on it. It seemed ok, but for some reason I remember it having a bunch of bugs..

And yes DS, I used 'lastscore' yesterday.

well, from the few times I've tried out the opentdm mod, I can safely say that it works fairly well, and that I have a lot of re-learning to do, as I'm just getting used to OSP as it is..

I think we should continue with the current split format for a while until people are comfortable with the new mod, but I couldn't help but vote for soylent green above.

ive seen detector use that bug a bunch...no time recently tho.

you would think with all his coding skills he could make a decent scoreboard...(is that so much to ask for?)
