Team pairing

maybe it's just me, but I think the amount of you guys that don't have team mates is crazy, and I think some people are hesitating to sign up because they don't have a partner or don't think will be able to find one, and that's lame cuz we could have a way bigger tourney if you guys would start asking each other. I mean, we're all friends here for the most part, I doubt anybody is really going to say no.

one thing I find really weird is that kong + cartman are both in devine and haven't teamed up yet, that and kobraklaws + lucky, would you guys really rather have your names in the random team picker than team with your clan mate? like I said maybe it's just me :P

It's just you. 
There would be nothing more I would like than to team up with a person like Lucky.  But the fact that I have such little experience in TDM and in tournament play makes me second guess myself to be teamed up with her.  I would rather see Lucky teamed with someone with more experience in TDM, but that's only a preference.

Hope you know where I'm coming from here.  We still have a day or two to decide on whether we should team or not, or randomly get thrown together with one of the great players who are still teamless.

But yes, I hope people start signing up soon.  Better start advertising this more.

The way I see this, and the way some people made me see this, is that the sooner you get your partner, the better. You will be able to practice with him in 2s and be somewhat ready when the tourney will kick-off. Good Teamwork (drops/binds) is probably underrated - but the more you play with your partner the more you get familiar with his play-style (like Eye pointed out concerning Crazed) and that's a good thing.

Don't get me wrong, I understand your point about giving Lucky some teaming-freedom but don't tarry!

1 of the reasons why I havent teamed up with anyone let alone my own clanmate cartman, is that I would really like to see that none of the teams start getting stacked (say like sean and Rob's team for example :p )

I agree with you kong, to a certain level. I think it is only fair that every team has some practice before playing their game - so if you wait till' you get paired randomly (that, is, less than 24hrs before kick-off). You won't get much time to know your teammate - let alone practice with him. I think it is wrong since THE great pleasure of 'tdm' is the teamwork, setting up a team and get along well on the map is important, before playing anything official.

That doesn't prevent you from choosing a weaker player, and even more, it'll give your team better chances to actually perform as the underdog.

In other words, what Naym has done is the best example. A quick Pairing with a lower-level player. Now if they're practicing is another thing

I'm gonna take your advice and see if maybe I can find myself a quick partner so that we can get an early jump on getting some good practice in before the tourney
