ID Games On STEAM - Whats Your Opinion?

im sure some of you have heard the news, good or bad
me, i think this is a huge blow to anyone who plays ID's games

its the sign of the apocalypse!!

I have an indifferent view on it myself. Steam is the devil of course, but if it brings in some new or long retired quake2 players into the game, that is a good thing in my opinion.

Steam < battle.net < MPlayer < Gamespy

I'm forgetting some terrible services that belong in between battle.net and mplayer.

But anyway Apocalypse? RotA is all for that!

connect tastyspleen.net and "goto" fill all my personal needs.

xfire makes up for anything else missing.

irc is my local bar down the block.

I like that Steam can help a gaming developer distribute their game.  I like that you can backup your games etc..

I don't like that Steam is Windows only and that it requires authentication to the Steam servers for the initial setup (not required for LAN games once installed).

So, I'd say this is a good option, as long as other options remain open.

I don't know why a lot of people don't like Steam, I never had a problem with it while I was using Windows, I thought it was great

Hopefully they will start to make it Linux compatible now ^_^

I use Steam cause I play valve games as well.. come to think of it, I'm still using [BTF]DeadBeat's steam account. lol
